Almost right. It's a Constitutional Republic with democratically elected representation. The difference is that the Constitution has restrictions that protect the rights of the people, and limit the powers of the government.

No, none of us is perfect, but Howlin is a good person. She has a lot of friends are Free Republic. And she has a very good reason for feeling life is precious and not to be thrown away or treated lightly.

Having had LEO friends that were shot (one died) in traffic stops, I can tell you I'd rather have to invest in a new pair of underwear caused by my response to the officers unholstering their weapons (if that was needed for them to safely do their job), than to see a dead cop. BTW, they should have to wear their vests too.

The key is reasonable actions based upon the particular circumstances.
