Posted on 10/19/2002 6:14:56 PM PDT by William McKinley
Just reported. Took place outside of a Ponderosa Steakhouse. Not sure if it is related or not at this time. Police have shut down parts of I-95.

A policy that has since been changed.
I didn't think that Airport Security would go forward without a bunch of snafus, frankly. That was a BIG one.
I still would rather have the security, than none at all. And there have been suspects stopped.

"No what it shows is that you can't separate life from fantasy. There are many on this thread suffering from that affliction so you are not alone."Jeezuz.......you are full of yourself, aren't you.
Please, teach me, O' Wise One.

"The cop haters sure talk big, until they're pulled over."
Rumor has it that the MSP/ATF are asking some Maryland .223 owners to "voluntarily" submit their weapons for ballistics testing.
Any advice in case they ask me? Should I stand up and require a warrant, or bend over?
I wouldn't want to be accused of being a "cop hater" for standing up for my rights...

Actually its a representive republic but what is the diff ? Almost right. It's a Constitutional Republic with democratically elected representation. The difference is that the Constitution has restrictions that protect the rights of the people, and limit the powers of the government.

Call Bill O'Reilly. The last report was from one he interviewed, along with her daughter.
Absolutely freaking unbelievable what they did/how they treated her.

Authorities said that the existence of any such e-mail was nothing more than an "urban legend".

Maybe a life you should get? You must be fairly young. This retort to Howlin is the sort of thing I see younger people doing when they run out of logical or witty arguments. And it is very hackneyed and thus boring to read.
No, none of us is perfect, but Howlin is a good person. She has a lot of friends are Free Republic. And she has a very good reason for feeling life is precious and not to be thrown away or treated lightly.
Life is precious. Rights are precious. The Constitution is precious. Each of us has to decide how they would prioritize these things in the search for a murderer who values NONE of those things and will kill again and again until he is caught.

Oh. Is that what "So, officers proceed with your Constitutions drawn and dare not trample an individual right. Oh, And watch out for the armed sniper while you're there." meant?
I don't know, I didn't write that one and wasn't responding to it. I was responding to the "cop-hater" bit.

Please, teach me, O' Wise One. You can't teach a person pining for a day that never existed in this country.

Amen, I'm there amigo.

Having had LEO friends that were shot (one died) in traffic stops, I can tell you I'd rather have to invest in a new pair of underwear caused by my response to the officers unholstering their weapons (if that was needed for them to safely do their job), than to see a dead cop. BTW, they should have to wear their vests too.
The key is reasonable actions based upon the particular circumstances.

Let's say the Islamo-fascists landed an infantry division in the town next to yours. Would you think it an infringement on your rights if you had to identify yourself to the American sentry, and prove that you were who you said you were? Let me get this right...We are at war...But our government continues to forbid us to defend ourselves and ultimately, our country...
Most Islam-fascists don't look like me, or 80 year old white grandmothers...This is not a war against the American government...This is a war against the American people...When the gov views me as suspicious but shies away from the Islamos, heck yes, I'm concerned about my rights...
To: EternalVigilance
If I had to guess, the manhunt that is going on as we speak will make it very tough for the enemy to escape I doubt the enemy is even trying to "escape", but rather holed up in some friends house watching all these drivers being stopped and searched on TV.

Let me get this right...We are at war...But our government continues to forbid us to defend ourselves and ultimately, our country... How are you not allowed to "defend" yourself?
To: patriciaruth
She has a lot of friends are Free Republic. well said... jerk.

LMFAO
You are totally clueless!
Good Lord, the lights are off, too!
To: schmelvin
Any time. I guess you just need to learn to read faster, I kept up fine.
Oh, and could you lighten up a little, please? If there was anything new to report, I'm quite certain that someone would post it. Keeping up on this (since I can't turn on tv since hubby is sleeping after a 26 hour shift) is the precise reason I've been on here. What would you have us do? Sit quiet until there's news to report????
To: Iscool
Now that the sniper has shot someone coming out of a steakhouse, I suppose we've found our first real clue:
The sniper must be a militant vegetarian (one who also hates crafts and folks who use gas-powered vehicles).
To: Howlin
Do I know you?
To: schmelvin
I've been here the whole time, and would've gotten to the end of this thread much sooner if I didn't have to weed through so many off-topic postsTo be safe, in the future, limit your reading to simply the titles.
