I don't think there's a worse-run race in the country than the governor's race in California for the Republicans

Hey! Thanks for the help!

I still think The Myth of the Middling Non-Participant describes the key to a resounding victory by Bill Simon. And I still think he is going to win despite the campaign.

"It's the base, stupid." Spin us up!

Reverse psychology, or the ugly truth? Only election day knows the truth. Simon has had some good ads lately.

This is why I will only donate to the person and not to the Republican party. Gee, with friends like these....

And what did this Mr. Davis ever do to HELP Simon?

I tell you, we donated directly to Simon's campaign and another local Republican (who got no support from the national party) and have thrown all the GOP mail begging for money for the national party in the trash.

My house is voting for Simon!

"...beset most recently by Simon's false accusation..."

Okay, I get it now. Davis can totally screw the pooch over a period of four years, driving the state from a $12 billion surplus to a $24 billion deficit, mortgage the state to pay the electrical bill, ruin the education system to the point that more than half of all high school seniors fail their achievement exams, run the Governor's Office like a cheap whorehouse... but let Bill Simon make one mistake and throw in with the accusation leveled by a police organization...

One more thought.

You don't see Simon throwing in the towel like the Torch and letting some joker step in like Lautenberg. He's sticking it out to the bitter end and that takes character.

GOP boss says Simon campaign is worst in U.S.

Absolutely not true. The Michigan Republican Party has completely imploded and buried itself about 20 miles down into the Earth's crust. It is unbelievable how they have abandoned the field of battle completely to the Liberals.

Never in my life have I seen a political party so inept, so incompetent, so completely devoid of any hope. It's amazing!

Isn't this helpful? Methinks this guy must have contributed to Davis's campaign fund.

The Republican Party wants Simon defeated in the worst way. They still haven't forgiven him for what he did to Riordan. Hastert's people just sent me a begging letter for their national congressional campaign. I hope they're not holding their collective breath waiting for me to fund all the rinos in their line-up.

I'm inclined to agree (but that doesn't mean this Congressman should have said this out loud).

Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., chairman of the National Republican Campaign Committee

He's chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
The NYT got the title right in their article on the same subject, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/771323/posts (unless they are two different committees?), and an internet search of Tom Davis will turn up the Congressional version of the NRCC name in the first few listings.

Since he chairs the NR Congressional C, he doesn't really work directly with Gubernatorial elections. Since he's so dissatisfied with what he hears/reads about Bill Simon's campaign, he ought to come over to California and campaign with Mr. Simon to form an independent opinion. If he would, he could be pleasantly surprised. Go Simon! FIRE graydavis!

There seems to be a proliferation of Alzheimer's disease patients in the GOP. Try and remember the 11th Commandment, RINO's! Only 17 days til we eject the Dimwit! So let's get on the phone FReepers and call your CA family, friends and neighbors. Remind them of the incompetency of Davis and the honesty, integrity and vision of BILL SIMON!(Not in the mood for any negativity so please keep it to yourselves) Semper Fi

Congressman Davis: Please refer yourself to Lee Atwater's Book of Knowledge & Winning before you cause further erosion of the GOP.

Re:Simon's false accusation that Davis had accepted an illegal campaign contribution. Simon had to retract that accusation.

This is false. Davis took the contribution, there's no doubt about that, it's just an argument about the location.

Let's talk for a minute about the incompetency of Congressman Davis, and his blind committee:

Here in West Virginia's 3rd Congressional District, the incumbent Democrat Nick Rahall is a pro-Islamist along the lines of Cynthia McKinney. Few outside of southern WV remember it, but he was over in Baghdad shortly before the infamous visit there by Bonoir and McDermott. His actions and comments while in enemy territory sounded like he could have competed for the position of press secretary for Saddam. He has also received funds from people with clear anti-American, pro-terrorist ties, and can be counted on regularly to criticize Israel for defending itself.

The Republican challenger, FReeper Paul Chapman, has received exactly NO help from the Congressional Committee...not one plug nickel.

With a VERY modest investment...say $100,000...right now, Rahall could EASILY be knocked off by Mr. Chapman.

The Senatorial Committe is no better in their inability to think tactically. FReeper Jay Wolfe has the best ground organization I've ever seen in his challenge to left-wing incumbent Dem Senator Jay Rockefeller. But the Senatorial Committee, in their infinite wisdom, has not sent ONE DIME to help finish Rockefeller off.

This is a pro-gun state, and Rockefeller has an'F' from the NRA...he is easy pickings....but because of failed leadership by our Republican leadership, the opportunity might just barely be missed. I'm hopeful we can get the job done without them---it is possible---but $200,000 worth of Radio and TV ads right now would seal the deal.

If we miss control of the Senate by one seat because of their shortsightedness and egos, I will despise them forever.
