While Moose and Demme makes some good points about witness "contamination," they make me more uncomfortable than anything. It sounds more like to me that they are trying to control the witnesses and the press.

Stare in the direction of the illegal and dangerous assault weapon noise, carry around a pen to take notes; if necessary, write down details on your hand. Be sure to note:

If the lone, white, mid-20's gun nut assailant is driving the white box truck or the white Astro van;

Any facial hair or details of the lone, white, mid-20's gun nut assailant which might aid in a composite sketch, and;

Disregard any shadows or adrenaline-induced hysteria which tends to make assailant briefly appear Middle-Eastern.

Did you notice he refused to answer whether or not the ammo had been fired from one gun or many? I've always thought that ballistics proved they were shot from the same gun. He definitely backed away from that! Is it possible that they've known all along there is more than one gun and more than one shooter?

I heard the same thing. It sounded to me like they are now saying the bullets could have come from any firearm that has a caliber somewhere around .22 Bulwinkle refused to answer a direct question regarding the ballistics - if the tests showed that they came from the same gun or the same type of gun. Based on what he said it could have been 11 different shooters.

My guess is that they do not have a clue. During this whole press conference they basically said that they have no info at all and everything that they have said up until now has been a lie.

These "police sketches" of the vehicles are so idiotic if weren't such a serious subject they would be outright hilarious. Come on - a composite sketch of a white van?

Someone needs to step up to the plate and send Bullwinkle J. Moose back to enforcing quotas and put someone with some experience (and brains) at the helm of this investigation.

I agree that he acted very strange. When Greta was wrapping up the interview and saying what horrible circumstances he witnessed, he had a big smile on his face. Very inappropriate behavior.

Racial profiling is sooooo un-PC. In that case, they have no choice but to protect the identity and privacy of the shooter. So let's all just put these shootings behind us, and simply move on, shall we?

It's very possible that he was paid to stand in as a "witness" and give a bunch of misleading information so the police can keep their progress under wraps.

The story today is that the FBI is down at Guantanamo interviewing some of those detainees. This probably would have been a pleasant process under "normal" circumstances, but since the last victim was an FBI analyst I'm guessing that as I write this there are a bunch of al-Qaeda folks in Cuba with jumper cables clipped to their nuts.

On a more positive note -- The more serious this situation became, the more certain I was that the morons in front of the cameras knew less about the REAL investigation than anyone else.

No, I have nothing. I only know he was on with Greta, I think, on Tuesday night. He was shifty, scruffy, and "olive" skinned. A few other posters have mentioned that they saw him on other channels too.

Re Emergency Broadcast Test, Here in NC, they ran a test last night on cable and airwaves during primetime. I've never seen it happen during prime time before...every station on the cable.

Makes me contemplate that there is so much we don't yet know about regarding what is going to happen in this country over the next few months.

Last Friday, I was listening to streaming audio of DC's WTOP radio. The anchor was interrupted mid stroke during his breaking play-by-play of the shooting aftermath that morning. It was an EBS activation for a flood warning! NWS retracted the flood warning as an error minutes later - and issued the correct flood watch - via the anchors mouth.

Around here in Pittsburgh, EBS doesn't get activated for flood warnings - I thought that took a hurricane or something. Needless to say, I was a bit startled when the anchor was cut off during breaking news with the classic "impending doom" EBS tones.

Also, I too have noticed a large increase in testing on radio and TV - and what is strange and different is they are not waiting for commercial break to test, they're just cutting right in.

i think what they're saying is that they know absolutely nothing and the investigation is stalled.
