I thought the SAME thing, Dog. Good grief. Between Manger and Rumsfeld, they had his/their attention. NOW, it's all over. Shessh.

Well, once again I am back to thinking this is ME terror.

Fox is still aserting that the FBI is going to Gitmo to interrogate prisoners.

The press are desperate for info and Moose is a fool to dangle hints in front of their noses and then yank them away with these stupid "We won't comment on the investigation" press conferences. He needs to pamper the press if he wants their cooperation. A clever PR person could even get the press to unwittingly help with the investigation.

"We're not going to talk about the investigation. That's a matter of National Security."

In context it made a little more sense. The "that" of the quote was referring to interviewing detainees at Gitmo, not the sniper investigation. In other words, Moose is saying (well, trying to say), "that is national security, but this (DC investigation) is about a deranged (fill-in-the-blank) killer.

Exactly right! What they retracted and didn't say spoke volumes to me.

I think for something to be credible, it must be officially reported to the public from the cops.

Anything reported by a newspaper is considered not reliable, even if it is totally accurate/true.

That's what I learned from this press conference.

It would be highly unlikely that it would ever happen (re. NewsMax and Drudge), but wouldn't it be great to get some of the DC/MD/VA Freepers a press credential so we could go to these things and ask the questions that need to be asked? I'd volunteer, but I'd be thrown out w/in the first 5 minutes for calling the other reporters morons.

You make a very good point.

Also, why is it necessary for the FBI to go to Gitmo. Aren't there interrogators already there?

My conclusion, based on nothing except speculation, is that they either have security camera photos or a sketch that they want to show to the prisoners.

that guy never claimed to see the shooting

True, but all the media reports, and Capt. Demme's press conference yesterday, referred to "witnesses." Now the implication is that there was only one witness, and a non-reliable one at that.

As Chief Manger of Falls Church was talking, Moose was coaching his answers in the background.

LE does not look good. The WP reported this morning, in a story describing the emergency medical care given the 13-year-old, that one of the surgeons was caught between a rock and hard place when they recovered a bullet fragment. Both the Montgomery County and Prince George County police demanded to be given the bullet. The doctor, who has experience with such evidence, correctly made a phone call, and got a ruling to give it to the ATF.

In the case of the much-criticized leak of the Tarot card, the WP and the TV station reported that they checked with Montgomery County police and got no answer or objection to publishing the info. The media is a pack of jackals, but how much of the criticism is an attempt to cover up the lack of cooperation between jurisdictions?

Last I heard it was ruled by committee. LOL. Looks like a committee of ONE, to me. Moose does not know how to USE the media to his/our advantage. The Cops who DO know, don't seem to be allowed to do so. All I got out of that conference is, I've made everybody's life miserable if they dare talk to the press. You must talk to the Moose and the Moose doesn't know anything, type thing. Disgusting, useless and IMO will get more people killed.

Aspen Hill and Wheaton are technically inside Silver Spring, which is one big locality. I'd say they're each four or five miles from downtown Silver Spring.

I'd say White Flint is two or three miles from downtown Rockville.

These are estimates.

Thank you for your clarification. It's very hard to transcribe Moose-speak. I think the "that" was referring to the AQ manual suggesting that the people who are in the know about it are the national security types. But since the question was asked of the FBI guy, the FBI guy should have answered it.

There's an article in this morning's Washington Times about the Army RC-7B.

Fox is showing live shots of police back at the Home Depot site. Apparently they are looking for more evidence.
