WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bill Clinton may announce as early as Friday that he's easing long-standing economic sanctions against communist North Korea.

Administration officials tell CNN the decision follows a commitment from North Korea over the weekend in Berlin to halt testing of long-range missiles while talks with the U.S. continue.

The entire Clinton administration was a bunch of limp-wristed, pink-palmed, paper-pushers.

They gave away the store.

Bush is the "Mr. Clean" who has the job of cleaning up the entire mess........

But don't you know what the DemonRats will say? Bush and his "cowboy diplomacy pushed N. Korea back into their nuclear program"... "if they'd only stuck with the foreign policy laid out by Bill Clinton, none of this would have happened."
Yeah right, what an enlightened lightheaded bunch.

I just don't see how easing the sanctions can encourage anything but more agressive behavior on the part of North Korea. Governments like theirs only respond to FORCE, not wimpy sounding "oh-pretty-please-with-sugar-on-top-and-lifted-sactions-if-you-will" kind of talk.

I'm glad to see this brought out again. Also, to see Chris Cox's name re-appear.

Not sure about the timeline, but I remember Albright making a trip to N. Korea -'99-'00 - and not being allowed in until the caves were cleaned up. Then when she was allowed in she said everything was clean. Could be wrong but this is the way I remember it. Makes ya sick!!!

There have been many of these "flashback" NK stories coming out today. Rush was loaded for bear. An earlier FR thread had a 1994 NYT piece that you need to read. The "clinton legacy" is unraveling faster than I ever thought.

Tragic.
