The bill, which would go into effect in 2004, was approved 92 to 2. It would provide funding to improve states' election systems and reduce voter fraud.

The money will no doubt come with Federal strings attached and shifting a little more power from the states to the central government. In the long run, this bill is more about control than elections. In the short run, it looks like it may hurt Hitlery.

Under the bill's anti-fraud provisions, every voter would have to show a driver's license, Social Security card or other approved ID to be able to vote.

This, in no way, proves the identity of the person. There are no "signature cards" on file, there are no handwriting experts working the polls. No way does signing a name "prove their identity."

You'll never get a direct answer to this fact, however.

I live in Florida, home of "the dumb voter", when I vote my signture is checked via my voter registration card I filled out. You have to have a picture I.D. to vote.

The big problem isn't the unqualified voters. It's the minority dems who vote in 5 or 10 districts.

Vietnam had the right idea. When you noted, you got an indellible stamp on your wrist. If you had it, you couldn't vote again. Wore off in about 4 days.

I believe my addition to Hillary's quote is the real objection she and Chuckie have regarding having to show an I.D. to vote. In Virginia, I.D.s are required and the voting process is quick and easy when everyone has to show the election officer identification. Cuts out lots of voter fraud.
