...I have to defend myself against all these deer! ...

No joke here in Southern Virginia. The laws were so tight, we were overrun with deer for some time. People kept having collisions with them on the road. A lot of people would die if they weren't thinned out.

One night, as I was driving the back roads home from the (now burnt) bar I managed in Wachapreague VA in a Chevy Chevette, I encountered a buck...I slowed down...he faced the car...pawed the ground like a bull about to charge...and charged.

I managed to avoid him, by playing a (in retrospect) game of vehicular bullfighter. He passed close enough to me (low beams on...fog) that I couls clearly see that he had only one antler, and 4 points on the remaining one.

I worked there for several years before moving to PA, and there are other, similar stories I could tell...and the FERAL DOGS!! HOW ABOUT THOSE FERAL DOGS??

Anyhow, deer are definitely a danger to moterists in VA.
