But since when have Democrats cared about law or the limitations thereof?

I don't remember, but I'm sure it has suited their needs at least once.

Yes, because we all know that if you can't hunt in a four county area for a couple of weeks you have been seriously damaged.

I think it's a good move. Hopefully, an arrest will be made soon and this order can be vacated. If it's hunting season, how on earth are the authorities going to be able to keep up with the reports of gunshots? I would think people in this area would welcome this for the sake of their own nerves.

You've made this statement in two threads. Again, I'm hoping that you are just being sarcastic and trying to spoof on the idiot liberals who will applaud this order. Unfortunately, this post sound more serious than the other one. Please tell me that you are kidding.

Just when clearer heads are needed in government, Glendening pulls a bonehead move.

In a state with some of the most draconian gun laws on the books.

The psychopath or terrorist is probably laughing at ol Parris right now.

Most democRATs in MD are clueless.

Great move! The sniper never could have seen this one coming! This is even better than the toll booth in Blazing Saddles. Genious!

So I'll sue this dumb son of a bitch for the cost of my indoor shooting range membership fee when the courts open tomorrow. And I hope that I have to stand in a long line to do so.

I do hope that this comes around to bite Mizzzzzz Townsend in the posterior housing of her brain on Election Day.........

I'm not kidding. I wouldn't want to live in an area where there is a killer on the loose and listen to gunfire. And when the gunfire starts, and the calls come flooding in to 9-1-1, how many resources are going to go to checking out someone shooting at wild game while the sniper hunts his human quarry.

Additionally, if the Pentagon is deploying a surveillance aircraft to detect muzzleflashes, isn't that going to wreak havoc if you have hundreds or thousands of hunters in the area?

"I wouldn't want to live in an area where there is a killer on the loose and listen to gunfire"

That's interesting.. I wonder how many random shots people had to hear. I'd venture to say very little.

The areas you COULD hunt in these four counties are way out in the country where this time of year the locals know it's hunters, not serial sniper murderers. I mean, it's not like someone is deer hunting at White Flint or duck shooting at the Landover Capitol Center.

Hmmmmm. I have this sneaking suspicion that the feds may have gotten a gunshot-locating system in place. These systems have already been tested in places such as Redwood City, CA, and are actively being marketed to many, many jurisdictions around the world.

The locator systems are essentially a matrix of networked microphones that are monitored simultaneously by a central processing center. The systems are highly sophisticated, able to locate the origin of a gunshot to within approximately 50 feet, and distinguish gunshots from other loud noises, like automotive backfires. Using existing Internet networking infrastructure found in business and residential metropolitan areas, they can also be deployed over a wide area at relatively low cost.

Current technology, depending on instrumentation, deployment density and technique, may even be able to provide some characteristics of the firearm itself, and provide more detailed ballistic data, possibly even trajectory data.

Of course, the guv's order may be completely unrelated, but such a dramatic declaration definitely would correlate with the deployment of gunshot-locating systems. My guess is, in this case, that what they have is a makeshift system quickly cobbled together on an emergency basis, but being improved and refined as fast as is humanly possible.

The "Beltway Sniper" must be eliminated immediately.
