Some accused the Prime Minister of having blood on his hands, suggesting that it was his active support of the Bush administration over Iraq that had provoked the attack.

Let the Americans solve the world's terrorism problems for us. Keep their troops on the front lines, and their citizens on the front lines. While we (the rest of the world) stay safe and enjoy the protection of America.

I mourn for the loss of the Australians. But they, like the rest of our so called allies, need to help us out and back us up, not continually blame us for all of their woes.

This would be an intriguing strategy for Al Qaeda to take. Attack countries they consider likely to break and negotiate if attacked. Having seen the response of the U.S. to 9/11, attempt to isolate the U.S. by using other countries fear of attack.

Most Australians dont blame America for any of our woes.If any Aussies do,its the usual suspects(leftists or arab immigrants).Australia helps out and backs up America on almost everything....from the days of Vietnam to Iraq.

Liberals live in Australia too... they will be woken up, kicking and screaming if needbe to the reality that these Islamic bastards are not merely targeting Jews and the US.. they are decidely against all western influence and any and all non muslims. If they are foolish enough to believe that they were targeted simply because they are friends with america, then many many more Australians will die in these types of attacks before they stop.

Unfortunately it will take more incidents like this before a lot of countries wake up to the threat posed by these militant Islamic terrorists. Sure thing. As long as he says exactly what the terrorists want him to say and does exactly what the terrorists want him to do maybe they'll leave everyone alone...or at least let them be the last ones murdered...

I won't dignify this sort of cowardice with further comment.

But a couple of other things do occur to me - first, that the terrorists have succeeded in refuting and humiliating the "moral equivalency" crowd, and second, that al Qaeda has really, really pissed off the wrong folks. We'll drop daisy cutters on their heads, the Aussies will hand-deliver them intrarectally.

Nonsense.

US has 280 million people. Australia has about 20 Million. 200 dead Australians is just about exactly the same proportionally. Not as concentrated as with the New York Area, but on a national basis, most australians will know someone, at least 2d or 3d hand, just as Americans did.

Also, as with us, and even more so, dead will be concentrated in the 20-40 age group of people with both a past and a future.
