CNN Headline News is reporting that a woman has been shot near a Home Depot in Falls Church, VA, and that authorities are investigating whether this is another sniper attack.

From the photo linked in post #47, there is no parking garage, or even a lower level lot.

I believe the road near the bottom is Rt 7. The wide road in the middle is Rt. 50. Rt. 50 goes under Rt. 7 at Seven Corners.

In that photo, approximately in the center, is the N.E. corner of the Home Depot parking garage. The garage roof and the store roof are very close to same height.

I grew up and still live a couple miles from that store.

Shot to the head. She was in a parking lot lower level. It the sniper) was waiting for her in the parking lot and probably took off in his vehicle from that lower level and made another quick getaway. He waited for a victim, took one shot and now we have nine dead.

The former marine may have been a decoy or maybe he has nothing to do with this after all. We never learned his background or his girlfriend's.

But there are only 2 roads that cross the Beltway without interchanging with it - Idlewood in Falls Church & Heming in Springfield. If he's inside the Beltway, he can't get out. I'm sure the bridges are already blocked. 50 runs to Memorial Bridge.

If the Sniper is shooting there, either he is getting bolder and more fool-hardy or he is incredibly sophisticated. Let us hope he becomes bold enough to slip up. I am still stunned he would shoot in such crowded surroundings.

It would fit for a nutjob, though. He has to get closer in, and closer to being caught, in order to get the same thrill. (It's a form of pornography for him, I suppose.)
