IF he was driving a Van, it could be something as simple as he was going to make a "pick-up" for Goodwill Industries and wrote the address down on a piece of paper..
Long as we are speculating..:~)

I'm sure the cops are pulling surveillance tapes for every business in the area, wouldn't necessarily have to be the gas station's camera that (hopefully) caught the shooter on video.

Sources tell CBS News that law enforcement authorities were looking for a van that may have the words "Total Recall" or "Total Access" on it. that's from here fatal shooting at Virginia gas station
If they know he doesn't know his way around and there is the possibility that the "unknown words" on the van said this, then I would think someone could find a business in Northern Maryland? with that name?

"LE sources tell me that they think he has changed vehicles"..err duh Even if the police believe the killer(s) have changed vehicles, wouldn't they still want to find the truck to search it for forensic evidence to be used later? I would think they'd want some DNA evidence or fingerprints to help build a case for when those responsible are caught.

I'm not aware of any specifically Columbus Day festivities in the area. But the Taste of D.C. food festival was going on on Pennsylvania Ave. in D.C. yesterday when I was downtown, and I suspect it continues all weekend. When I was there yesterday, I saw a heavy police presence.

law enforcement authorities were looking for a van that may have the words "Total Recall" or "Total Access" on it. I thought about a delivery truck for a competitor of Michael's named 'Total Crafts' but it uses red lettering not purple/black.

"He is a killer - I favor the term Tarot Card Killer"
I also wish the press would refrain from using the term 'sniper' so much mostly because I think the word pleases him or them. 'Killer' or 'murderer' or even just 'shooter' would be preferable.
Though your name for the killer may be a good one I have seen the press float several 'names' recently and I hope none of them stick... at least not until this is over. I do not think we need to inflate the ego of this murderer by giving him a cool, catchy name. We can put it on his tombstone if you want.

Fox just showed a picture of a woman pumping gas stooping behind the pump, it was on the front page of a newspaper(didn't get the name of the paper)....really sad!I'll bet the "full service only" pumps are getting a lot of action.

The main attendees at Columbus Day festivals seem to be American Indian stooges and Black Bloc anarchist idiots. A source in Denver told me that they had a large Black Bloc anarchist contingent there yesterday at Columbus Day festivities, spoiling for trouble. Fortunately, DPD had managed to sniff out and destroy their weapons, and, as my source told me, once the little anarchists saw that DPD was not going to let them get away with things - they started running like mad in the other direction.
Unfortunately, they ran into another side of the pincer. Many arrests, lots of attempts by the Black Bloc to provoke LE personnel, but fortunately, all the guys and gals hung tight and the only people who had to spend the night in jail were the Black Bloc idiots.
That said, I don't believe this sniper has anything to do with that. The anarchists use the "Native American" groups, and somebody else uses the anarchists.
But in this case, I think it's either an individual or a cell, and I'd be looking at Bosnian snipers for this. The tarot card made me think it was a psycho, but it's seeming more and more that this is too organized for a nutcase. Also, sniping was one of the main forms of terrorism and attack in the Balkans, and hitting women and children was one of their special glories.

one to concentrate on the shot. one to concentrate on the driving. division of responsibility. driver divorces himself from the excitement of the shooting, is able to drive without adrenalin pumping.

Something jumped out at me in a Time article...
Al-Qaeda alive and trying to hit back..
Though al-Qaeda may not be capable of mounting another Sept. 11-style attack in the near future, the group is now more dispersed and thus more difficult to track. "They can operate in ones and twos," says a White House aide. German authorities nabbed one last week, arresting Abdelghani Mzoudi, 29, a Moroccan suspected of ties to the Hamburg cell of Sept. 11 ringleader Mohamed Atta. Meanwhile, according to the New York Times, U.S. intelligence officials are investigating reports that Ramzi Binalshibh, a Qaeda operative arrested in Pakistan last month, may have been the head of a fifth hijacking team, assigned to crash an airliner into the White House. If so, it's likely that at least some of his teammates are still on the loose.

No one in the D.C. area would need directions on how to get to the Beltway.
To: knak
he doesn't know the area as well as I thoughtWell, that depends...what I can't figure out is why they say FROM Northern MD, instead of FROM the Beltway to northern MD???? He may well know Mont county/DC/even Northern VA...but most living in that area don't know Northern MD...
To: knak
I don't think the words "total recall" or "total access" panned out. May have been bad info...maybe not?
We have gone from an Astro mini-van to a Mini-Van with a ladder, to an actual truck van.
Long as we are speculating, it seems they don't really have a firm description of the vehicle, IMHO.

I think so, as far as the laundry trucks. ALso, airport shuttle buses. I think the white van is a decoy, as I stated two days ago. LOL No one has any idea, IMO.
