I Got Helen Thomas to Hang Up on Me
DFU phone call to the troll | 10-11-02 | Doug from Upland

Posted on 10/11/2002 11:50:31 AM PDT by doug from upland

THIS HELEN THOMAS NONSENSICAL PIECE inspired my phone call to her. Her number is at the bottom.

I was surprised to actually get through to the troll. I gave my name and indicated that I participate on FreeRepublic where I saw her article posted. Trying not to be confrontational with the troll, I said that I found it interesting but had a few questions.

First, she said that Iraq is under total surveillance from the air. I asked whether that was good enough considering that we have no access to the palaces or perhaps hundreds of other buildings that are off limits. She told me that he agreed to give access to everything. I questioned that and she directed me to ask the State Department.

She came back at me with "Should we check every nation?" My response was that I was not quite as much concerned that our friends in England had nukes as I am that someone like Saddam Hussein had them.

Helen immediately launched into an attack on Israel talking about the nukes the Israelis have and that they occupy territory that does not belong to them. Then she went on to babble that someday everyone would have nukes. She asked why I don't go along with non-proliferation and she mumbled something else that was somewhat incoherent.

She appeared to be growing weary in the exchange so I asked her if she had time for just one more question before I left. I asked her opinion about Juanita Broaddrick. "Who is that," she said. As I was about to explain (of course, she knows) she said, "I don't have any more time for this. Bye bye." And then, Helen the troll hung up the phone on me.

I had so many more questions for her. I wondered if the economy began its slide on Jan. 20, 2001. I wondered whether corporate greed began on Jan. 20, 2001. I wondered if stocks began the downturn on Jan. 20, 2001. I wondered how many corporate execs Bill Clinton had ordered to be led away in orange jump suits during his tenure. Unfortunately, we were not able to discuss those issues.

Maybe Helen had to go take a nap. Or, maybe she had to down another pint.

I guess this could be considered a phone FReep, right?

I'm surprised that Helen didn't answer the phone with a couple of questions for you:

"WhhhhhaaaaaT is your name?

Q ERTY3

YOO-HOO Helen Thomas: THE CLINTON RAPES ARE "UNBECOMING"

DEATH BY MISREPORT: 4TH-ESTATE MALFEASANCE AND 9/11

Q ERTY6 utter failure

BUMP!

This misreporting actually endangers people's lives. By selectively reporting the news...

New York Post | 25 January 2002

She said the press corps followed a "golden rule that if it didn't affect the running of the country, they didn't need to report on it. We weren't protecting anybody."

As President Bill Clinton reached his last days in office, Thomas asked him what White House possession he would like to take with him.

His reply: the rock Neal Armstrong brought back from the moon. Whenever tension filled the Oval Office, Clinton said, he would point to the rock and tell those present to "chill out." The rock was 3.6 billion years old, he said; they needed perspective.

"I think the rock is still there, but I'm not sure," Thomas said.

Helen Thomas: Bush a Work in Progress

"I think the rock is still there, but I'm not sure," Helen quipped. Her punch line to clinton's response to her question about a -- (only in Helen's mind) 'fantasy' -- clinton kleptocracy, was in fact 4th-estate CYA-ing disguised as a joke.

Ironically, unbeknownst to the always clueless Helen, the one-liner she was delivering was indeed a joke; it was the butt of the joke that was her misreport...

In the end,
if clinton's arrogant, ruthless, reckless nature is restored to him,
it seems the joke will be on all of us,
for it will be a victory for infinite victimhood and irresponsibility,
for seduction, for violence, for nihilism, for anarchy.

We will have set apart clinton as the hero
by making his victims less human than he;
we will have allowed clinton to carefully estrange us from his victims
so that we can enjoy the rapes and the beatings
as much as clinton himself does.

NO NOSE FOR NEWS: THE HELEN THOMAS STORY

New York Times Chairman/Publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. admits to Brian Lamb:
  • "Times dropped ball during Holocaust by failing to connect the dots"
  • Times was able to endorse clinton by separating clinton's "policies" from "the man" [i.e., by failing to connect the dots!]

by Mia T, November 30, 2001

Calpractice and/or malfeasance by "compartmentalization" redux...

It appears that The New York Times doesn't learn from its mistakes. Will it take the Times another 50 years to understand/admit that by having endorsed for reelection a "documentably dysfunctional" president with "delusions" -- its own words -- it must bear sizeable blame for the 9-11 horror and its aftermath ?

(Note, by the way, the irony of Sulzberger's carefully worded rationalization of the clinton endorsements, pointing to clinton "policies," not achievements, (perhaps understanding, at last, that clinton "achievements" -- when legal -- were more illusory than real--perhaps understanding, at last, that the Times' Faustian bargain was not such a good deal after all).).

If we assume that the clintons were the proximate cause of 9-11 --- a proposition not difficult to demonstrate --- it then follows that The New York Times must bear sizeable blame for the 9-11 horror and its aftermath.

Funny. Helen Thomas is a bigger idiot than I thought.

That's o.k. - The greatest thinker in the world does not have a measurable trace of the capacity to realize how big an idiot Helen Thomas is.

Thanks. It was an enlightening experience. I'd love her to really get a dart in the neck as they did on Saturday Night Live.

I had an interesting exchange with a columnist the other day.

he ended the conversation with:

"Glad you like your country and its policies so much. I think mine is the best in the world too, and hearing from our southern neighbours only makes me prouder to be Canadian.

We see the world so differently, I doubt there's much to be gained for carrying on. Let's see how much better the world is a year from now. I'm not holding my breath.

Stephen"

Hope it didn't break your phone.

When I first read the title, it reminded me of the song (for some weird reason): Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer

I got through to Eleanor Clift once on C-Span, but that doesn't come close to speaking to the Pool Reporter for ALF (Association of Living Fossils), Doug. I'm impressed!

Maybe she is just jealous. Perhaps the troll threw herself at Bubba and he turned her down.

I remember when a couple of leftist journalists appearing one morning on C-SPAN were asked by a caller about Juanita Broaddrick. They too pretended they had never heard of her. Seems to be an MO.
