NEWSFLASH: Another shooting, approx. 9 AM, this time near Fredericksburg

I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

Interesting call into WMAL (DC) just now by a caller who said he was trying to get through to tip line but couldnt. So they aired his observation.

He said, there was a rental truck yard with exactly those types of Chevy vans with ladders with the words "Total" on the sides of the vans, located on US 301 in Maryland (suburban part of DC, south of the city).

Let me propose that the single shooter is in a regular sedan and waits till he see's a white van or white box truck in the area, and then he takes a shot.

Let me counter that with: multiple shooters in multiple white trucks/minivans, using the same type weapon/ammo. Easier to get around, harder to trace. I'm inclined to believe the tarot card has little or nothing to do with the shootings/sniper. Possibly, "I am God" on the death card is someone trying to say that God is equivalent to or brings about death, whereas Allah brings life everlasting (martyrdom?).

Yup. And, as someone who lives in the area and sees a lot of what law enforcement does here, I'm positive the feds have been working this hard from early on. They just don't do press conferences.

No one knows that this isn't a terrorist. But it's certainly a crime of national scope and importance in any event. This is FBI territory at this point, no matter the motive.

I think it was another witness because the trooper would have looked for the license plate #.

Yes and we have had voting on giving President Bush the authority to go after Saddam. A sniper? Wonder if this is also a sutle threat to the politicians voting and our President to let them know that they too can not always be protected from a sniper?

Why Washington area? Because this is not just a serial killer - there is a purpose behind this IMHO.
