NEWSFLASH: Another shooting, approx. 9 AM, this time near Fredericksburg

I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

This guy had to see that Trooper across the street when he was sighting the victim......and took the shot anyway..

The TV 9 reported on the scene of the shooting said the shooter may not have seen the State Trooper working the traffic accident.

I would check out that traffic accident to see if it was staged or setup. Like cutting someone off, causing them to veer into traffic, etc. Maybe the shooter wanted an audience.

I'm sure it is now being studied as terrorism by the FBI.

What is distinctive about this is the frequency of the killings. Every day or every other day. Psychopaths of recent memory killed and then lay low for weeks or months before they struck again.

This is a concerted effort to sow panic and terror-specifically in the DC area. I wouldn't be surprised if the van is packed with explosives and the final end of this is a suicide mission. The cops will need to be real careful if and when they pull over the real perps.

Just a thought, but the sniper had the tarot card in his hands, perhaps carried it a pocket close to his body for a while. It may have scent.

Maybe they hope to get lucky with the bloodhounds.

I guess the are issued ONE jacket...I doubt they have jackets for every type of crime they investigate...

What good does it do to have a description and not release to the public? I would think that giving descriptions on TV would be one of the best ways to catch them.

I'm assuming the police have a tactical reason for it. If the withholding of this information turns out to be because of political correctness there will be a HUGE public backlash. My initial hunch is that it is some whacked out home grown Nut Job but it's things like this which makes me think twice. Stay Tuned.

Well, it could be a hate crime....as in the Muslim terrorists HATE us!

Still trying to keep an open mind, however. 50/50 terrorists or psycho nut job. Leaning toward terrorism because of the FBI Counterterrorism Task Force and President Bush getting briefings.

On the other hand, this is terrorism, regardless of the perpetrator, and perhaps President Bush is interested because the FBI has been called in and also because so many people he knows live in this area.

I agree the frequency is very (too) high for just one crazy. The logic that I just heard on the media was: one crazy is possible but two guys with the same crazyness is too unlikely, unless it is terrorism.

There has been an upsurge of activity since that Bin Laden audio came out. Didn't this all begin about that time? We've had the Marine shooting in Kuwait, the French ship and, dare I say it, this.

TV 7 said there was a 30 mile traffic backup this morning.

OK.Makes sense to me,I couldn't make it work in my mind when he told me but I knew the man well and trusted him.

He could have left out that the brush would need to be adulterated with foreign grit,dirt,etc. and any oil at all from previous use would surely attract some crud.

Also,it could be that he would know the bullets would match but he couldn't use it in a court case after the slight changes after a (dirty) brass brush had been used.
