NEWSFLASH: Another shooting, approx. 9 AM, this time near Fredericksburg

I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

I think mystery-ak was just reporting what was said at the press conference. People of various ethnicities have been killed.

So I think it's unlikely that anyone could say that race is an issue in determining victims.

I think the tip you sent must have been a good one... I don't think the site would have been pulled unless cops thought the description of the card and the way it was left could compromise their investigation.

I suppose the link could have dissappeared coincidentally, but I doubt it.

Saw a bit of Ari's daily briefing earlier and he basically said that regardless of who is responsible, the result is terror. I agree - domestic or foreign, this is terrorism. He also said that the sniper shootings are part of Bush's daily FBI briefing now and that federal LE is helping local authorities in any way possible.

Well, from the news conference, we are back to 2 perps and a white van--this time with some sort of latter. I thought it interesting that the police have a description of the suspects but are not releasing any details on that.

Wonder if it has occured to the cops that this killer hops from motel to motel, or uses a well known chain to hole up?I would hope they are pulling CC slips in EVERY hotel/motel and gasbar in a 75 mile radius.Or further, get reports on guests paying in cash.The perp also has to buy gas, and plenty of it.

The are profiling the wrong people. Here is a sample from an al qaeda training manual just to show how cunning and well planned their mission are -- they work together in teams "the operative" and "the person conducting the surveillance". They conduct months of surveillance before an operation.

Surveillance by car requires taking certain measures:

1. Inspecting the car's fuel, water, and lights.

2. The car should be of a common type so it would not attract people's attention.

3. The car should be in good condition and the driver should be experienced.

4. The car plates should not contain real numbers. It is important to use a false license plate and small numbers in order to prevent anyone from spotting and memorizing it.

5. The car's interior light should be disabled in order to hide the identity of the surveillance team members sitting inside.

6. The number and appearance of the car surveillance team members should match those of the target's car.

Performing Surveillance by Car:

1. The car being used for surveillance should keep up with the target’s car during the surveillance operation, especially in crowded areas and on side streets. The distance between the two cars depends on the circumstances.

2. If the target gets out of his car and starts to walk, one of the surveillance team members should get out and observe him.

3. Follow all aforementioned measures for surveillance on foot.

Exercises to detect surveillance by car:

1. The surveillance car speeds up then stops suddenly while observing which other car is affected (this is done where there is not a lot of traffic).

2. The surveillance car enters a dead-end street.

3. The surveillance car goes in the opposite direction of traffic.

4. The surveillance car stops and goes backwards.

5. [The surveillance car] enters a parking lot and immediately goes out.

6. [The surveillance car] takes a side road and stops.
