And when I called her at 10:15 your time tonight to tell her I knew about tonights shooting, she had just gone to bed , didn't know and had seen nothing on the news. I think it broke just after because my other sister called me soon after (I was going to call her, too!) to let me know about the shooting.
I was sorry to wake Sis #1 up to tell her but at least she won't wake up to it without knowing.

Please, Lord, protect our fellow citizens and keep their families and children calm and free of fear; in your name. Amen.

Dear Father,
I pray for the families of these victims. Give them comfort, peace, strength and the ability to forgive. You know who this evil one is and I pray that you oh G-d stop him or them before he/they kill again. In Jesus Holy name, Amen!!!

Most of my family lives in and around the D.C. area. My sister lives in Wheaton and she said this is hurting the economy there. People aren't shopping or leaving thier homes unless they absolutely have to. And I sure don't blame them.
May G-d put a hedge of protection up around the people who live in this area. And may G-d bring down this evil person/persons before he/they can kill again. In Jesus Holy name, Amen!!!

Matthew 17:20-21 for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by
prayer and fasting. I would ask that all who will, not just pray but, also fast. This helps in getting G-d's attention and also shows that you really mean it. Make sure you do it with a right heart. Wanting to get closer to G-d, seek his face. If you read in the bible there were many times when something really bad was going on the people were called to fast and pray. The early Christians did this often, but, today most don't. I would again ask that all who would, and who can, please fast and pray. The easiest fast is the dusk to dusk or say from 6:00 this evening, or whatever evening you chose, to 6:00 the following evening. If you have a medical condition that won't allow you to do this, then you can also just give up a favorite food.

I was getting ready to ask you what to do if we have a medical condition that requires food. I think this is a good idea and am willing to participate. It's been 20 yrs since I fasted during prayer. (that's a long story)

I'm certainly adding my prayers. I've been praying for the folks in the DC area all along, of course, but I think it's nice to know how many Freepers are all joining together to do this.

Hi Kim,
Fasting doesn't always have to be a complete fast. My husband does this but you can also do a juice fast or just give up something. You can give up just one meal or two.
I knew someone who gave up all desserts because they enjoyed them so much. They felt that was their sacrifice.
A woman came to our church not long ago to talk about fasting and said it is not a good idea to start out with a total fast. Most people work up to those.

I just ate before I logged on but will fast with you for the rest of the day. Thanks ML for the reminder to do this.
Dear Lord, please let this be the day...as much as I am beginning to feel bonded to everyone here, Lord, please don't allow this particular prayer thread to be needed for much longer. In Jesus name, Amen

G-d bless, I believe that the fasting and prayer will do the trick. I am believing and praying that this evil person or persons will be caught this evening.
My heart just goes out to the families that have lost loved ones to this evil person/persons. May G-d give them comfort, in Jesus Holy name, Amen.

G-d bless!!!
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
The power of prayer coupled with fasting is extremely powerful. This will be what brings this perp or perps down.

You are right about the prayer AND fasting. I've been on the computer too long and I think I need to get my priorites straight. As much as I have this incredible need for information and to be here with everybody discussing this on the various threads, I think I need to just go spend more time in prayer on this.
I think I'm past the saturation point on news.
Blessings to you too, MsLady.

I just got on and saw your response, Kayak. Not sure if we can post on state boards either, so I'll do some snooping.
And I believe Angelwood is visiting Basil in Austin, but pinged her anyway - just in case.
(I'm just about ready to cook dinner, so it may be awhile before I can get back on here...)
