PORTLAND -- The city of roses, known for cozy coffee shops that give shelter from the winter drizzle, is also known as a refuge for religious and political radicals -- a reputation that was reinforced last week when federal officials broke up what they called a terrorist cell here.

Lovely place. It places high on my list of desirable relocation targets, should I ever decide I need a change of scenery. < /HUGE sarcasm>

On the east coast we have Vermont. On the left you have Oregon.
OR is pending for massive immigration given State funded health care. These folks won't pay taxes.
Sad to these fine states being occupied and cannibalized by grifters ....

"tolerant" another word for ammoral...or too chickenshit to stand up for what is right or decent and against those who would destroy such...
I spit on you and yours...
Long live the Republic down with tolerance & diversity up with freedom and moral integrity

1979 Oregon, passing through, could not pump my own gas, experienced too many incidents of moron magnetism on the highway, knew immediately, that this state only thought it belonged to the UNited States of America. Tolerance of what? Anything that didn't smack of patriotism, apple pie, or the red white and blue. Oregon needs about ten thousand good loggers, and a relocation program for anyone who doesn't appreciate the loggers. Relocation west of Cape Blanco. Oh, the tolerance has got to go. In other words, it is high time oregon got off the fence, and took a stand on issues, for America, and against radical environmentalism. Apologies too real americans forced to live in oregon.

Lovely place. It places high on my list of desirable relocation nuclear targets, should I ever decide I need a change of scenery to launch a strike.

Three native-born American Muslims -- Jeffrey Leon Battle, October Martinique Lewis and Patrice Lumumba Ford -- were arrested Friday in Portland on charges they conspired to wage war against U.S. troops in Afghanistan and provide support to al-Qaida.
I'll bet not a single one of them, dressed "business casual" like the September 11th hijackers were, would have been caught by any profiling. Another reminder of why we need to watch for suspicious actions, not "suspicious people".

I suggest you go back to bed again and get up on the right side of the bed this time around. Save your anger for the enemy, not our allies.

The city was also named by the Immigration and Naturalization Service as a "receiving city" for immigrant groups because of its small size and liberal ways and has sizable Somali, Iranian and Afghan populations as a result, Farr said

On the east coast we have Vermont. On the left you have Oregon. Please don't broadbrush Oregon. The Al Queda heaven is the Williamette Valley and Ashland. Eastern Oregon is part of the Great Basin, the most conservative region of the country. Our paper had a scathing editorial on how Portland is terrorist friendly. Two different worlds.

"
A magnet for Muslims was a Middle Eastern Studies program at Portland State University..."Just a sidelight - those same moslem "students" drove a Denny's, which was located right nest to campus, out of business by flocking in, occupying every table and chair and just socializing all night, not buying anything.
This is the result of the community being so naively "open minded" and proud of their precious "diversity." Last time I saw it, the former Denny's was a struggling beauty parlor.

1979 Oregon, passing through, could not pump my own gas I couldn't pump my own gas either when I drive through in 2000. At the time, I just thought it was because of high gas prices ($1.80/gallon & up then), and too many people taking off without paying after filling up. But this silliness has been going on for over 20 years now?

I see posts every now and then complaining about that in NJ; I didn't know there were two states that prohibited self-serve.

Hopefully, you guys in the Pacific Northwest can get some REAL diners, like we have on the East Coast, preferably run by a guy named Spiro or Stavros.
