[history]
He lives in a pineapple under the sea, in a town called Bikini Bottom. His best friend is an exuberant pink starfish named Patrick. His name is SpongeBob SquarePants, the absorbent yellow star of the most highly rated kids show on TV.

Can you give me a hint? Hmmm - kind of hard to give a hint without just giving it away. Without looking it up, see if you can try to figure out which character in Spongebob is voiced by which member of the Hong Kong Cavaliers ;)
To: Jeff Chandler
Spongebob Squarepants is written on many levels Yes, the levels range from "mildly impaired" to "psychotrophic hallucination."
To: katana

The kids and I watch Spongebob. Patrick is my favorite and Plankton is hubby's favorite. My best friend and her son watch it and she's a devout Christian. The thought has never even crossed our mind as to whether or not Spongebob is gay...we don't even think that way...it is just a fun show to watch.
What I don't understand is how everytime a cartoon or show is popular with kids, the characters get labeled as gay. It is ridiculous...why can't kids just have fun with something instead of everything being politicized or labeled??
I think these types of articles are another way for the gay groups to influence people to think a certain way...well, if the gay groups say Spongebob is gay, then he must be gay, and it is ok to be gay. I think the gay activists label something as gay just to have make themselves feel better about their behavior and to promote their agenda. They can't even leave a kid's cartoon alone!!!

which character in Spongebob is voiced by which member of the Hong Kong Cavaliers ;) That's the link between the two projects?
To: gcruse
Oh, for pete's sake. All I can say is they mess with Spongebob at their peril.

"The thought has never even crossed our mind as to whether or not Spongebob is gay...we don't even think that way...it is just a fun show to watch. " I agree, my kids watch the show too, and I've watched a few with them... it's a goofy character, with a silly voice, and Crazy laugh.....
and his friend Patrick is sort of a dumb sidekick. I always though the Squirrel was his girlfriend - but I haven't seen any steamy scenes between them! (lol)
The show is a big favorite and it's just a crazy concept...I don't think there is anything else to it but a funny cartoon.

I had to look it up. Clancy Brown, eh? That's a pretty tenuous connection, don't you think?

Dude, I think we've all figured out that you could give a rat's patootie about any of this ;)
To: mumbo
It counts in "Six Degrees", doesn't it? ;)

You are full of crap. S.b. is a cute cartoon and very funny at times.
Far be it for me to keep you from your gay sponge boy. Enjoy...
To: gcruse
I'm an adult (happily heterosexual) and I love SpongeBob, and in fact many other Nicelodean cartoons.
To: Gigantor
Anyone who can call Spongebob 'vile' must himself be vile
Logical fallacy. Try again.
To: ArneFufkin
Now, Arne, you really need to sit and watch a few episodes.
I personally found the episode in which Squidworth convinced SpongeBob to go on strike from Crusty's restaurant, followed by Crusty locking them out, a perfect analogy to the longshoreman's strike, complete with clueless signs. Excellent commentary there on union organizing, I thought.
Also Squidworth learned a lesson on conformity when he moved to the all-squid community and about went nuts because everyone did things exactly the same. Everyone played the clarinet badly. No one was amused by leafblowers.
As you can see, I have made an extensive analysis of this program, and its social ramifications.
Also, SpongeBob is asexual. He informed us in one episode that he reproduces by budding.
To: Miss Marple
Hee hee. That was a good ep. My favorite is "Sailor Mouth". And Mr. Mew is still trying to get the dolphin noise for #13 right.

As you can see, I have made an extensive analysis of this program, and its social ramifications. There's a dissertation in there somewhere, I can feel it. "Miss Marple, Ph.D" - that could work ;)
To: rangerwife
The alarming factor here is that this nonsense is considered worthy of publication in the Wall Street Journal. This is what passes as world class journalism these days.
A cartoon character designed to soothe and amuse three year olds is co-opted as an icon of empowering homosexual symbolism. They're slumming desperately. Next thing you know these same groups will try to claim that Richard Simmons is gay.
To: Miss Marple
So, there are squid cohorts ... why doesn't SpongeBob look like a sponge found on the coral shelf, but rather one found next to the steel wool on a Wal Mart shelf?
To: general_re
No, I am still working on both my Marple Theory of Puppetry plus I still haven't perfected my long-distance depilatory ray (to instantaneously remove the hair from John Edwards and John Kerry..thus rendering them ineffective as candidates).
I just don't have time for a dissertation right now. Feel free to steal my ideas, though! LOL!
