In our house we have discussed at length the bias problem with the mainstream media, i.e., tonight's decision by the networks not to air the President's speech. A long time ago, we cancelled our local newspaper because of bias. I would like to ask Freepers throughout the country if they continue to watch the network news or purchase the major leftist newspapers like NYT, Wash Post, Chicago Times, etc. If so, then you are just perpetuating the problem. The only thing that media bosses understand is readership and dollars. The only way to get them to consider changing their ways is to stop watching them or subscribing to them. Look at the crisis CNN is in because of Fox News. The thousands of readers of this forum could make a significant dent in the leftist media pockets by simply cancelling subscriptions and tuning in to another channel.

Strong Speech, And I agree with and support my President 100%, I trust he will make the right decisions on how to deal with Iraq and he has EARNED my respect.

Despite all of those here who slam him at every opportunity, President Bush has shown more leadership ability in his first 20 months, than any other president in my lifetime, and that includes the my personal hero Ronald Wilson Reagan.

We are lucky we have this president in these times

Yes he was .. I turned on MSNBC afterwards and after listening to 2 sentences from Chrissy Matthews I had to turn back to Fox News

The speech was aimed at wavering Democrats and Independents. It was very good for this audience. Those who don't unite behind this effort either have a very skewed view of the risks we face, are just partisans whose quest for power is more important to them than the security of America, or are America haters. There are significant numbers in each of these groups. But we can hope that the vast majority of our people are united behind the President on this matter.

I refuse to watch any major network news broadcast anymore, and we cancelled our subscription to the daily Milwaukee Urinal-Sentinel over 3 years ago. We still get the Sunday edition for coupons and ad flyers. It also enables me to stay in touch with just how far out in left field their editorial board continues to be along with how bad the Brewers still are.
