In our house we have discussed at length the bias problem with the mainstream media, i.e., tonight's decision by the networks not to air the President's speech. A long time ago, we cancelled our local newspaper because of bias. I would like to ask Freepers throughout the country if they continue to watch the network news or purchase the major leftist newspapers like NYT, Wash Post, Chicago Times, etc. If so, then you are just perpetuating the problem. The only thing that media bosses understand is readership and dollars. The only way to get them to consider changing their ways is to stop watching them or subscribing to them. Look at the crisis CNN is in because of Fox News. The thousands of readers of this forum could make a significant dent in the leftist media pockets by simply cancelling subscriptions and tuning in to another channel.

President Bush never asked the networks to cover his speech tonight. Had he, they would have. That's how it works.

I refuse to watch any major network news broadcast anymore, and we cancelled our subscription to the daily Milwaukee Urinal-Sentinel over 3 years ago. We still get the Sunday edition for coupons and ad flyers. It also enables me to stay in touch with just how far out in left field their editorial board continues to be along with how bad the Brewers still are.

Do you ever remember them not dropping everything to televise any thing Clinton did? In fact, they still follow him around like a puppy dog. Not all household's have cable, therefore they did not see the President of the United States make a very important speech on the security of our nation!

The local ABC affiliate in Orlando chose to air the speech. I've emailed my thanks to them.

I watched the President Bush's speech on CBS tonight. So they all didn't decide not to air him.

I have not watched a network news cast since the 1980s. I have never purchased a NYT, Washington Post, LA Times, or Chicago Tribune. However, our local paper pretty much just regurgitates (sp?) articles from the NYT, WP and AP.

All our local affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC aired the speech tonight. According to freepers on other threads, it looks like most of the West Coast got the whole thing. Interesting...

Maybe the big networks didn't carry the speech, but my local ABC, CBS and NBC stations did carry the speech, including FOX.

The network feed was still available to local stations. It's just that the networks didn't think it was important enough to show.

I seem to recall these are the same people who have said repeatedly that the President has not made his case. Here was the President making his case - and they don't want to hear it. It does tell you what their real motive is - doesn't it.

It was a good speech, too bad the media including FoxNews continues to dump on it. E.D. Hill on Fox and Friends this morning was saying that the president was stretching things and not very convincing. Makes me sick. The people overwhelmingly support this and all the media can do (including Fox) is call our president a liar. Bunch of dirtbags, all of them.
