You make good points. I'm with everyone re it's unlikely that no one has any sort of description of the shooter. So many shootings in broad daylight at rush hour - seems someone would have to see something. I'll tell you something else, just speculating this morning, chain smoking and worried to no end. I manage a shopping center right by this PG county shooting and go there often. But a well-planned sniper attack would take into account the always-present problem of different police jurisdictions. Cops are known to be protective of "their" cases, often causing investigations to go awry. So far, there's been shootings in four jurisdictions in this state (one in DC) and hey, let me say it now, I'm not overly impressed with the police in this state, no much their being "politically corrected" into non-action in this liberal hell of a social experiment.
It's hinky, nothing less. This has all the earmarks of a professional action, not a nut case reacting with emotion rather than logic. Someone is carrying out this "attack" very logically.

"Inthe schools"? How about patrolling around the schools???

But you forgot to mention that in the audio tape they said these attacks will be against the economy. More than likely something that will effect us like the stock market or the airline industry again. They are going to hit us where it will do the most lasting damage again. For the past year, consumer spending has been the only thing holding up our economy. A pretty good way to keep "consumers" from spending is to keep them terrified and locked in their homes.

That was the MO in an Agatha Christie book, 5 random killings to hide the "planned" murder in the middle

The profilers on TV, for what it's worth, are leaning toward the "thrill" kill, rather than organized terrorist attacks.Perhaps. But there seems to be a certain coolness, patience, and care to these shootings that suggest the sniper is no mere "thrill" killer. They have been carried out from a distance over the span of several days and there are no solid leads. The other notorious school-killings were carried out close-in by severely unbalanced persons whose identities and motives were almost immediatey known.
There appears to be some method to this madness. Time will tell.

I would imagine that the perp(s) have decided that the rush hour traffic M-F makes their getaways easier. No rush hour on the weekends, hence no shootings.

Their organization may well be reluctant to lose a marksman as good as this one is. If this boy's shooting is related to the others, it appears to me that the shooter may be losing some comfort.
At first, one shot per kill. The shooter probably in a "comfortable" spot (like maybe in the back of a box truck?
The VA shooting - if he/they used the truck initially, they would have dumped it by then. Result, hit but no kill.
School shooting - two shots, no kill yet.

Americans don't kill children to cover up for a murder of an associate. That's not part of the American psyche.
Terrorists DO kill children if they think they're avenging children who have been victims of war.

but if this turns out to be terrorist related, and if it escalates or moves to other areas, I'm going to go gun shopping and I will carry concealed and I will teach my kids how to handle guns safely, how to shoot and protect themselvesWhy wait?
To: harpseal
there is also the effect of tying up the police all over the southeast. If something else is planned wouldn't this be the perfect setup?

If it is Islamic terrorists I still tend to think it is not Islamic terrorists, although at this point I hope it is.
This kind of attack is too easy to do, and I think it would be occurring in every major city in the country right now if it had been planned by a terrorist organization.
To: Quilla
You'll likely find the book credible and startling. All the more so because it details how the FBI was unable to respond to Steven Emerson's concerns about terrorists in this country because Clinton had them focused on white extremists, CD piracy and Microsoft. There are waaay more terrorists in this country that I'd ever believed before.

Plus I don't think it would be a good idea to hang out in a area where your kid was just shot waiting for an ambulance.
Prayers for the family.

Does anyone remember that incident shortly after 9/11 when Muslims got out of their vehicle in a parking lot and started praying? It seems to me that it was Texas, but what I think I remember is that it was at a Michael's.

Actually it may be the safest place in the world right now.

Would it be better for MD schools to let their kids out around noon today (so that the kids won't be outside close to evening rush hour)? No. It would make the tachers union and public schools look bad. Priorities, dear!

The CIA (yes, really, the CIA) spent a couple years teaching advanced police tactics to the Pali Authority, including "counter sniper" tactics, including giving them scores of sniper rifles. IOW, we trained an entire generation of pretty decent Muslim snipers in how to shoot and scoot. The IDF has taken a lot of casualties, especially officers, from these snipers, one of whom shot and killed about 11 IDF troops in 25 minutes at a roadblock and got away.

well i just called my daughters elementary school (northwest of baltimore md), you can be assured I'm concerned. I can well imagine. I don't live anywhere near DC. I had just gotten back from dropping my son off at school when the news broke. And because of the previous talk about schools being targets when I took him, I scouted the place out as best I could.
Been saying prayers off and on for those in the area and that the authorities catch the shooter(s).

"The reporting and Chief who gives the briefings seem so incompetent. This is the same POS chief from Portland that refused to help question and or detain anyone suspected of being a terrorist. Only right he should now be the Chief in another county of "Diversity". Wonder how many Terrorists he will help this time.
You know, that is a nice ironic twist. Isn't it?

true--guess I had too much of that public school "guns are bad" propaganda drilled into my head :)
