We may have been the last to be made aware of OBL's tape.

The time frame re: the OBL tape doesn't matter. They are bad guys and they're trying to trick us every day of the week. Killing people means nothing to them.

Where I live it is not uncommon for a 911 ambulance call to take 30-45 minutes to respond...although 15-20 minutes is more common...something happens to me or min e and I load them up and make the 12 mile drive to the hospital before the ambulance has even been able to muster a crew to respond. Don't be critical of the mother...she just may have saved the kids life.

According to my map, the nearest fire department/EMS is 2.75 miles from the school. Another is 5 miles and another about 9 miles. My guess is, with a cell phone call to 911, EMS would have been there in 5 minutes.

I don't know what the protocol is, but the 911 call might just have triggered a helicopter response.

The Children's Hospital, to where the boy was eventually taken, is about 14.5 miles from the school.

Mom did the right thing. The hospital was apparently only about a mile away. She probably got there in two or three minutes -- probably saved many minutes off the arrival of the ambulance, and thereby saved her son's life.

Yes, it could definitely be that. Morning after morning, more shootings, meanwhile monitoring media and investigative response, planning and refining next event.

May even take some time off, after all of this, to set up and train the next group, in the next area. I suspect the ammunition caliber will be changed, too.

It will indirectly affect the economy if people are afraid to leave their homes, go to work, send their children off to school, go shopping, etc.

I suspect that the whole concept of "EMT" can be traced back to the early trauma centers.

I remember Milton Friedman saying that doctors were very much opposed to EMT's; that it was a turf thing. Any truth to that?

But this is so wierd if this was terrorists wouldn't they be doing it in other states too? This seems too much like some wacked out person who is getting his thrills watching the police go nuts.

We had a policy of not releasing actual words from tapes and videos coming from OBL. It was a good policy and we should adhere to it. Although probably unlikely, what if the "youths of God" mention on the tape was code for going after children?

How many people could pull this off?

As to technical ability presuming the distance is about 100 yards or maybe less I would expect several million people would have the technical ability to hit a target the size of a human torso at 100 yards. Just about anyone could with a little practice be able to accomplish this. As the distance goes up the difficulty of the shot increases exponentially. With a year of training I would expect a large number of people could with optical sights make a 500 yard shot on a human torso sized target with a high degree of reliability. If the training was intensive a month would be more than sufficient.
