As I've said before: I think it's a nutjob. I also think he's going to keep shooting, and taking more risks -- such as moving in closer. He may also be careless as his continued success goes to his head.

IMHO, give it a couple of days, and it'll all be over.

It's WAY far away from the other shootings...maybe number 7 is a copycat, and if the shootings are meant to represent the symbol of the Islamonazis, the position of number 7 could be the proof.

Have they ever said what kind of bullet?

I'm guessing it is a standard .224 caliber load like the .223 Remington. Probably standard 55gr FMJ, which will undergo explosive fragmentation at relatively close ranges out of most rifles. This would make a lot of sense, since they seem to be saying it is a .22 caliber bullet and .223 is a ridiculously common version of that.

At the very least, the wound reports I'm seeming are completely consistent with the expected terminal effects of .223 at relative close range. A .223 can really chew up the insides of a person, even the FMJ.

Even the foreign papers on the web today w/ breaking news I have been reading are calling Maryland in a state of shock and chaos. The Brit papers and also in Australia are saying "Washington DC" rather than Maryland, and put more emphasis that the suburban area is close to the nation's capital where many of its leaders and workers reside.

A "traditional" serial killer spaces out his crimes, if for nothing more than to prolong the "pleasure" he gets from it; a mass killer is more concerned with maximizing kills in a single location. This is much more calculating; it appears (at least to me) to be geared toward placing the general public in and around DC in genuine fear of going out in public; to "regular places" that people visit daily - school, the supermarket, the post office, department (or craft) stores, gas stations - I wouldn't be surprsied to see a church/synagogue or hospital next, and God forbid, perhaps even a daycare center before this thing ends.

The ATF guy said the school shooting was linked to shootings in Montgomery County, DC and Fredericksburg. That would discount a copycat, unless the ATF guy is misleading us.
