This is horrendous news, but we aren't terribly surprised. Schools have big decisions to make re tomorrow; should be easier for parents - better safe than sorry.

If I lived in the area and had small children, I would not send them to school. Their safety could not be assured.

Does Maryland even have a governor? Sheesh.
Even the foreign papers on the web today w/ breaking news I have been reading are calling Maryland in a state of shock and chaos. The Brit papers and also in Australia are saying "Washington DC" rather than Maryland, and put more emphasis that the suburban area is close to the nation's capital where many of its leaders and workers reside.
