Maybe OBL realized he wasted his best guys to martyrdom on Sept. 11. If these are his sharp-shooters, he needs them to stick around. Are they getting any closer to the Capitol or shooting people at random just in Maryland?

We can not allow profiling on ethnic grounds.

Wouldn't want to get ahead of the curve.

If at all humanly possible I would never wait for the police to arrive. First they come to see if you really need an ambulance then the ambulance is dispatched....wasting more time.......the mom did the right thing.

It could be anything at this point--even drug related. But the Washington Times printed this on Oct. 4:

U.S. intelligence agencies received reports this week indicating Islamic terrorists have targeted American schools for attack, intelligence officials said.

The reports indicate that the targeting includes plans to attack all levels of educational institutions in the United States, ranging from elementary schools to colleges and universities, said officials familiar with the reports.

The information on schools as terrorist targets is among the scores of threat reports received by U.S. intelligence agencies every day. Some officials questioned the veracity of the report but said U.S. intelligence agencies have to weigh all the reports

We can't discount the possibility yet.

Having just finished Steven Emerson's excellent book, American Jihad, he makes it clear that sleeper cells in this country are given authority to carry out whatever level of terror they can manage - small attacks, large attacks, single threats, etc. We are speculating about the possibilities of terrorism which is one of the great things about FR - the many ideas that congeal and different view points brought to the table and discussed.

Couple of weeks ago I had an employee cut himself pretty good. I had the choice of calling 911 or driving to the hospital. I drove and he was getting help immediately. If I'd called 911 they take a while, not to long, but from previous times they take, what seems like forever once they arrive to get to work. Put the gloves on, ask questions, find right box of whatever,....

In otherwords she did the right thing if the hospital was only minutes a way.

Now the mess in my truck is another story.

>>These are my last comments on this subject. States not blessed like Florida to have a good EMS system, they don't know what they're missing.

Where I live it is not uncommon for a 911 ambulance call to take 30-45 minutes to respond...although 15-20 minutes is more common...something happens to me or min e and I load them up and make the 12 mile drive to the hospital before the ambulance has even been able to muster a crew to respond. Don't be critical of the mother...she just may have saved the kids life.

Don't live in CT anymore, but we had many, many helicopters at all the major hospitals, not just one.

. . .my point is simply that targeting a child would in fact, 'fit' the 'random' pattern we have seen so far. . .and describing it otherwise seems more a denial than a recognition of the status of these killings.

Unfortunately I think the shooting spree last week was, as a trismegistic might say, "yet of moderate things" - merely the shape of things to come. The athorities, it is reported, have the identities, or at least the images of those suspected in last week's shooting. Why they have been so parsimonious in putting out that information in the form of Wanted posters is troubling. Perhaps they learned from the OKC bombing, and rather than allow that the musliterrorists are at work, they are biding their time until they can find another Jewel/Hatfield type patsy.

This begs the question, who is it at the FBI that keeps thwarting the SAICs in the field in following their leads to their logical (islamic) conclusions? Are their muslims/sleeper agents higher up on the totem pole with the attitude that "muslims don't investigate muslims"? Do the orders come from even higher up?

Whatever it is - incompetence, islamo-collusion, more innocents will die, and the push is already under way to blame it on "angry white militia" types.

I think part of the terrorist angle on this stems from the fact that we know that part of Al Queda training relates to long range sniper fire. Sure it could be a few crazed white nuts, but it would be silly to eliminate the possiblity of an Al Queda cell. The evil people that are carrying off these shootings are indeed creating terror in the area, and for that matter, are making me nervous as well.

If SUV/minivan owners are being targeted, it would just be part of the terrorism - "We're taking out the average American, so you're not safe in your anonymity."

And, to answer your martyrdom question - have you noticed that most of the failed "martyrs" are not that bright? (Reid, Moussoui).
I'm guessing that the islamist snipers are more skilled and talented than your average shoe bomber. They are still doing "allah's work", but they aren't dieing to get to paradise yet.

Others have commented as well that maybe Maryland has a medi-vac helicopter. They wasted time by not getting a medi-vac helicopter. Does Maryland even utilize Medi-Vac helicopters? Maryland needs to take lessons from California and get their news helicopters in the air. They are very good out in California at catching perps from news helicopters.

Helicopters - that's the answer for medical emergencies and for catching the bad guys.

The mother would still have to explain what occured. And the ambulance would still have to drive there. The mother was able to leave immediately.

Hmmm... I wonder if this leads up to a "going out in a blaze of glory" finale this afternoon?

I think our "local" terrorists are not intent on "suicide" but are rather Islamic PAID "militia"...with "specialties".
