Maybe OBL realized he wasted his best guys to martyrdom on Sept. 11. If these are his sharp-shooters, he needs them to stick around. Are they getting any closer to the Capitol or shooting people at random just in Maryland?

What would be very frightening is if this is just a test run - to see how much damage a single sniper that makes well-timed attacks can do without being caught. It may also be a test of the abilities of our law enforcement people to investigate such attacks. If this sniper gets away with it, then the OBL crowd will know the U.S. is vulnerable to this type of terrorism. Then, a few months later, multiple cells across the U.S. go into action and we have dozens of sniper attacks every monring over several weeks. The reason this frightens me is that I cannot see a clear way to quickly counter this treat unless one of these guys is caught and rats out his terrorist buddies. Anyone else have ideas about this line of reasoning?
