I think it is terrorizing the whole country myself.

Don't hospitals up north start working on the patient en-route to the ambulance? We have Bayflite helicopters that arrive on scene for accidents and fires. I guess living in Florida has some advantages in medical matters. It's all perspective, isn't it?

There is much concern here in southern Maryland. Schools systems will be locking down again today, kids will be not be allowed outside, afterschool activities will most likely be curtailed.
The shooter seems to be staying in the DC area, easy getaways on the interstates and parkways.

I don't feel exactly the same way, but "a touch" of that sinking feeling is there. BTW, I was
scheduled to fly on 9/13/01, and would have if USAir had been up and running -- safest time to
fly is right after. Safest school in the DC area, at this moment, is the one where this poor
young man was shot.

People know that there are cells all over the country, and they also know that these shooters 'could' be terrorists, thus the area of attack 'could' change at any given time.
This reeks of Islamic terrorism. I can't believe this possibility is not at the top of their list. They've hit black, indian, hispanic, white, male, female, child. The message is quite clear.

It is believed the 13-year-old boy was shot once in the upper body.It wouldn't surprise me if this turns out to be a single shot. There may have been an exit wound that caused initial confusion.

"Fox just reported cops were posted in the school"
I heard (Fox) that police were posted in many or a 'number' of schools. . .did not hear them mention this school specifically . . .(?)

Maryland has one of the best Medivac and EMS response records in the Country. Not too mention some of the best Shock Trauma Units in the country also.
Pray for the 13 years old

only once, iirc ...
someone way back up the thread asked about the woman on the bench re 2 shots;
also iirc, they're confusing her with the very first incident where one shot entered the window of the Michael's store,
but deflected and hit a bunch of books or something ...

Early reporting is often incorrect and it may well be one shot.

And if the one helicopter in Connecticut is busy?
To: mikegi
What if there were multiple shootings in the city nearest where your child goes to svhool? Not multiple cities, just multiple shootings near her school.
Still no worry?

Let's just say they stick out.

My guess and it is a guess is this is another calling card by the same sniper. At present the only people who can do more than speculate are the investigating officers.
If it is Islamo-facists I doubt that mosyt of the police agencies will be able to even consider investigating that aspect until some concreat evidence surfaces that an Islamic-terrorist cell is behind this. We can not allow profiling on ethnic grounds.

"That's a good point. Hadn't thought of that - two shots don't fit the pattern."
I think this can be over analyzed. . .the last victim did not die with one shot. . .

Thought I did hear them say police in this school specifically, but early reporting is spotty and my listening skills while cruising FR isn't always the best either.

BOWIE, Md. (AP) -- A 13-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded Monday outside a school, authorities said. Police hunting for a serial sniper in neighboring Montgomery County rushed investigators to the scene.
The boy was shot in the chest and abdomen outside Benjamin Tasker Middle School shortly after 8 a.m., Prince George's County emergency officials said.
His mother took him to Bowie Health Center, a small hospital. A Maryland State Police helicopter was to fly the child to a hospital specializing in traumatic injuries in children, authorities said.
``The child is suffering from extensive blood loss and is in critical condition,'' said Mark Brady of the county fire department.
On Wednesday and Thursday, five people were shot to death by a sniper in a 16-hour span in Montgomery County. A sixth victim was killed Thursday in Washington, D.C. On Friday, a woman was shot and wounded in Virginia.
``We are certainly very concerned about this situation in Prince George's County,'' Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose said. But he stressed that it was too early to know whether the shooting was related.
Montgomery County investigators were being sent to Bowie, Moose said.
In Bowie, police cars surrounded the building and officers put up crime scene tape and searched the campus.
Police and FBI agents were poring over maps and putting together a psychological profile to hunt down the killer. They also stepped up patrols Monday as people began returning to school and work.
``Clearly, we are at a level of anxiety,'' said Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose. ``The rush hour, the number of people who come out on a Monday morning certainly tells us it's an enhanced target-rich environment.''
Irene Kelly, 60, who was visiting her daughter in Rockville from Pennsylvania, spent part of Monday morning running errands. She said she had ``big concerns, very big concerns.''
``I'm more aware of what's happening,'' she said. ``I try to get in and out and get home. You have to be aware of your surroundings.''
