The INS, on the other hand, has some real problems, including being seriously short staffed and political in nature.

Agreed. We are very short staffed and Bush appoints open border idiots to run the agency, which shows his true colors when it comes to securing the border.

It appears that Bush is doing this on purpose. He sure puts on a nice smile, acting as though he's some good 'ol American while he backstabs the American people and sells its citizens birthright to third world authoritarian governments and their citizens.

Yes, that's pretty much the way I see it too.

It's nice to know that there are others out there.

Yep....now we're more of a bouillibaise....distinct flavors all vying for position. The future is bleak in my view....at least if one looks at historical precedent.

I'm convinced that unless we outlaw abortion and start shagging (with procreation instead of recreation in mind)a bit more within marriage that the 3rd and 2nd world are going to engulf us on our on shores like so much kudzu on a red clay hillside.

That is a problem. The left wing radical types have convinced so many that the sinful lifestyle is the "way to go", for marriage is "tying you down". At the same time, they've helped disrespect many young women, turning them into fanatics through rabid feminism. As a result of the two, there are fewer marriages. Many nice men and women have fewer mates to chose from, and many others are just "shacking-up". Thus, the potential pool among those who are dignified is fewer and farther in between.

Overall, the problem is that the rational Christian heritage of the coutry that stated that sex should occur between marriage and between a man and a woman has been sabotaged by evil forces.

Things that used to be taboo are now mainstream and what used to be mainstream is now "just another choice". Pathetic, in my opinion.

Regarding immigration, though, our government has the ability to put a stop to this or to significantly slow it. However, I'm not counting on it coming out of them. I figure that at the rate things are going, the country will really be in the crapper by the time I retire. That is, if Christ hasn't returned by then.

Nothing that extreme is necessary. Just repeal women's sufferage and the rest will fall into place...lol

You speaketh the truth.

As you know WR, the truth in anything is irrelevant. It's about correct perceptions and being nice even if it's forced.

The worm has turned to be sure. Even if we plugged immigration now and all the little suburban girls suddenly decided to stop having serial sex with equally irresponsible boys and hence fewer abortions and if reasonable married folks decided to have more kids even of it's overpopulating the dear planet (barf), it's still too late. In another 2-3 generations we will reap the windfall of all this the same way we are now reaping other windfalls now that started in the 50s and 60s like the dissolution of the black nuclear family as only one example....it ain't gonna be pretty.

From what I've observed in modern American Christianity (or Judaism too for that matter), neither is up to the task.

Sorry to be so gloomy.

Yes, unfortunately that is the reality of today...and in many other periods of human history. Imagine if our Founding Fathers thought this way?

Washington cannot be allowed to turn a blind eye to our borders. It will be a HUGE issue in 2004

I am not as optimistic as you are. If the borders aren't an issue in this election, our elected representatives get a free pass. They can do whatever they want to open the borders, and by 2004 it'll be too late to do much about it. The good jobs will have been shipped overseas and the mediocre jobs here will be filled by cheap labor.

The war on Iraq thing is a diversion. If it weren't for that, people might be talking about our unsecure borders. And their declining net worth. And safety at home. And our loss of constitutional rights. Etc, etc, etc.

It's been my contention that El Presedente' Jorge Bush knows exactly what's going on. He lack the political balls to do anything about REAL homeland security. Having secure borders would be a logical first step to "homeland security". Bush is a complete sellout. He's so busy trying to run the world that he's forsaken his own country and his own people. Typical globalist crap.

That's B.S. Bush could secure the borders using one of his "executive orders".

My suggestions: booby traps, machine guns, razor wire, rottweillers, 10,000 troops, and Marine Inspector in charge!

And those Predator aircraft equipped with missles....

I doubt it will ever come to the table. With all the staged, pre-screened b.s. debates and softball questions being thrown at these fake "town hall" meetings, real issues never come up. Just chaff like abortion rights etc....

Then I think it's up to those of us that care enough about the subject to show up at their campaign speeches, when they are in our area, and shout it out. I certainly intend to.
