I live in Fredericksburg Virginia.
Michael's sit's right off of I-95, the major N/S interstate. The store also sits in a mall parking lot.
Even local details are still sketchy.
The victim, a middle age white female is expected to live.

Admitting to having been locked in other toil for the day: I was a bit bemused to see local FBI showing off a large scoped bolt gun and a AR-16 wannabe and talking about someone shooting seven or so people, in public, apparently at fairly close range, without being seen by any bystanders.
Kind of hard to aim and fire a 3 foot plus, scoped long gun, on the move (?), in public, that many times, without someone taking note.

Maryland does have the Death Penalty. In the quickest case I can remember, the State of Maryland convicted John Thanos in 1990 of double homicide. In 1993, I think it was, they executed him. I remember being impressed at the time because Maryland is a state not known for its conservatism.

Sounds like another Andrew Cunanan (sp?) type of spree. He seems to be moving from state to state just picking off people at random.

Looks like they're using a vehicle as a portable blind.

Oh, no. Has anyone in your area given a description of the shooter? I think I'd stay in unless necessary to go out. Stay well.

"Or maybe they don't want to contribute to the drought by causing millions of freepers to get into the shower."
This is the most likely. . .surely it could not be #1. . .unfair profiling. . .no way. . .
. . .but you are right re trouble - who knows where this might go.

Why in the world wouldn't police release a description of a suspect in so many murders? It doesn't make sense.

"So they can milk it for all the gun control propaganda they can get. The only description that would put some ice on that is if the description said, "JIHAD!" Then folks wouldn't pay attention to the lame busturds."
. . .well the fact that they are saying so little; makes you think first of the 'religion of peace' people. . .for sure.
But maybe they are just a bit fuzzy on the profiles so far. . .

We Married FReepers, could get in the shower with our spouses, would make the less effect on the nations water supply.
Of course, what could be series, would be the baby boom 9 months later. Now, that is SERIOUS.

I got a bad feeling that this is al-Qaeda terrorism Ditto re Al Qaeda. Thought that from the beginning. Me thinks this is a test case to see how well they can do in frightening our citizens. Bet this has never happened before in our country. I'm worried.

Is a .223 consistent with the other shootings?

Anyone want to guess at the political impact of these shootings?
There is a hotly contested race between Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Congressman Robert Ehrlich. Ehrlich is relatively pro-gun.
I see three possibilities
1. People get scared and want guns to protect themselves.
2. People are scared and want guns banned.
3. Electorate divided between teh two groups.
Maryland is a fairly liberal stat, so I assume #2. Not good for Ehrlich.

It's a .223? That probably links the Maryland shootings with the Virginia shooting (depending on forensic lab tests). I wonder if they've found any bullet or fragments in the DC shooting.
They may not be done. And that's chilling.

Well, every state should pass a law to carry weapons in public( with training). Then at least some could fire back instead of waiting for police!

That's bad news. The cops must be blanketing the area - it's all been within 10 mile radius I think.

Sarah Brady sure won't like the spike in gun purchases and CCW permits that is going to happen now. Too bad, I hope she gets a peptic ulcer over it!!
Remember: al-Qaeda prefers unarmed victims.
