Just broke on Fox - Ashcroft questioning NJSC Rule
Fox News Television | 10/03/02 | Brytani

Posted on 10/03/2002 5:37:24 PM PDT by Brytani

Fox news just reported, Ashcroft is asking NJ officials to explain why they are not following federal election laws in regards to military ballots in the switch and bait ruling.

This might get interesting

And since the NAACP has made so much noise lately that most soldiers are minorities (have no idea if that's true or not), then having Colin Powell and Condi Rice discuss this very issue would really resonate.

It does seem those judges? on the New Jersey State Supreme Court are a bunch of prostitutes. After all, they sold all integrity of the judicial system, when they voted to allow the New Jersey Democrat paarty to get away with by passing the law.

However, I cannot accuse those judges? of selling their own integrity. Why? Selling one's integrity, requires that one have some integrity in the beginning. The judges? on the New Jersey State Supreme Court never had any integrity, ever.

Now, I must apologize to all the prostitutes in the world, because calling those NJSSC judges? prostitutes is undoubtedly insulting to prostitutes.

Nice words - but the last time I looked - I never saw a RAT that was afraid to look like a partisan and it's worked very well by making the Republicans bend over backwards trying to be the 'gentleman and lady'!

I haven't gotten to the point where I think we need to become rats to beat rats. But even if I had, you don't change a formula that has worked remarkably well since Labor Day to try something new just because its a more glorious head on charge.

E-mail this to Rush, I'm 100% positive he will run the audio clip. I'd love to see the democrats try to spin this one away.

We need the VFW and Americal Legion to jump into this as well.

Didn't the Clinton administration murder VFW? Oh, wait, my bad ... I'm thinking VWF.

As long as his questions are on a federal level, he's safe (well sort of).

Brilliant deduction. How are the Dems going to explain to the military voters that their vote just didn't count? Say, "just too bad, nannie nannie nanner?"

Don't they realize the military are the guys with the guns and grenades and they could come home and level New Jersey if they had a mind to??

As long as we win, let 'em spin.

Nice one. Write the lyrics and I'll have it recorded.

"when the press does ask he should just shrug his shoulders, smile,"

That should really get us where we want to be!!! Why do you think the Republicans in Congress and the Senate keep caving??

Because they have nobody standing behind them loudly demanding our point of view. They hear the silence loud and clear!! It's hard to stand up against the RATS they serve with and all the RATS at home screaming out their demands and standing behind their leaders.

And what do our guys get from us...Silence and your statement above "when the press does ask he should just shrug his shoulders, smile"

Thank God GW has the spunk to take it to them - and he's a winner!!! Get some spine and for once stand behind what OUR leaders are doing and let the RATS know we mean it!!

We must uphold the rule of law or we'll never win another majority or the presidency again.

Also, consider this: if NJ gets away with this, no future candidate's candidacy is safe--in any state--if ultimately a Party can overrule primary results (i.e. the people's will). Why should people bother to campaign for office if this could happen to them? This is the ultimate power grab.

The only circumstance in which a candidate can be replaced should only be in the event of death.

Very true. The media hasn't held Democrats responsible since the 60s, this is what they've turned into. If the media would do their jobs unbiased, the RATS would be so crooked.

you hit it right on the head

the NJSC knew it had skids to the USSC
so they, like Florida, took the opportunity
to express a populist plotted idea the
media could continue to implant.It
avoids blame ultimately too via the
media's skirts. According to the media
who is America maddest at, the Florida
Supreme Ct. or the US Supreme Ct. ??
An oft forgotten point is that in the
Fla. court debacle, the dems did not prove
one point,NOT one point to Judge Sauls.
....not one. They did not get the ballots.

How can this affect the NJSC's ruling, which is the final say on if the Dems can break the law?

It has no effect, except for PR. And PR at this level of understanding is not going to count much when millions of dims are going to punch the chad for Lautenberg on November 5. The NJ supremes have the last word on this -- another aggregious case of judicial activism which is, sadly, likely to become more prevelant in the future, thanks to the relentless efforts of the dims to subvert the law -- unless the SCOTUS steps in.

But I doubt that they will. Because of the tactic that the dims have mastered -- raising hell -- the SCOTUS will IMO not want to get involved in this fight, especially after the bad publicity that the dims ginned up following the FLA 2000 fiasco. This dims are banking on this big time with their NJ gambit. If the SCOTUS declines to intervene, they win -- unless enough 'pubs turn out on Nov5 to elect Forrester. If the SCOTUS overturns the SCONJ, the dims have an issue to make in the next cycle, assuming that they don't play their next card: Toricelli resigns and McGreevy appoints dimocrat x and schedules a special election. If Lautenberg takes the seat, he will "retire" within twelve months and the dims will appoint his replacement, probably menendez (sp?).

Any way you slice it, the dims have played this one pretty well. IMO, the only chance to defeat them will be if the 'pubs in NJ can muster an 85% turnout and elect Forrester. That would be grand.

PS: IMO, the duplicity of the dims in this circumstance should be used in every close race in the country. It would be great if the dims lost the senate even if they succeded with their NJ scheme.

I saw a press conference today (Fox News, several speakers, one of which was Bill Frist) which seemed to say that NJ was already in violation of federal election law aside from the Torricelli mess.

From what I heard, there is a date by which all absentee ballots must be mailed by to ensure the voter has an adequate amount of time to receive and return the ballot.

If NJ has already violated this law, I'd guess other states have too. Maybe the DOJ can turn this into a nationwide enforcement of federal law regarding absentee ballots.

It would be following the law (and working to solve an ongoing problem), it is supportive of our military, and it could be seen as less a partisan attack.

Gee, did the whiners convince you to change your cartoon icon to this line drawing to save "band width"? I liked the previous, full color drawings better, FWIW.

If you remember Florida, military ballots were sent out too late. Many came back past the deadline, so they were thrown out. According to Florida election laws, they have to be in by a certain date, and they didn't make it. Many were still found out on ships, not even handed out to voters yet.
