Dems to Torch: Only crooks who can win

Excerpt:

Two days before Torricelli "decided" to pull out of the New Jersey race, Patsy Mink, a Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, died of pneumonia. Unlike Torricelli, Mink is evidently irreplaceable. The Democrats have insisted that her name remain on the ballot. It will cost the taxpayers of Hawaii millions of dollars to run a special election if she wins.

When Democratic Senate candidate Mel Carnahan died in a plane crash just three weeks before the 2000 election, his wife, Jean, volunteered to be appointed to the seat if he won. Carnahan was behind in the polls before the plane went down, but in an outpouring of sympathy for the grieving widow, the dead man won an upset victory.

Now, two years later, the widow is again campaigning on the slogan: "Keep the flame alive." That's considered a good issue in a Senate campaign. Talking about the war is a dirty campaign trick.

While Democrats encourage voters to ignore the Democrats' position on the war in the upcoming congressional elections and instead to concentrate on tiny local issues – such as sympathy for the candidate's deceased husband – it is they who have nationalized all congressional elections. As the New Jersey scam proves, it's all about control of Congress.

In a gallant statement celebrated as The New York Times' Quote of the Day, Torricelli said: "I will not be responsible for the loss of the Democratic majority in the United States Senate." He also won't end up on the Clinton death list now either. Nor will Saddam Hussein if Democrats have their way. The only items remaining on the Democrats' death list are honest elections and a million unborn babies.

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.

I've heard others say many times in the past (Ann included) that the New Jersey Supreme Court puts the Florida Supreme Court to shame. No, I don't think these guys required any coaxing. They did it on the house.

I followed the 2000 Missouri Senate race between Mel Carnahan and John Ashcroft. Never forget that Ashcroft had a reasonable legal challenge that could have blocked the Widdow from taking her dead husbands seat, but chose the honorable route and stepped aside.

How was he thanked? The good Widdow voted AGAINST fellow Missourian Ashcroft's nomination for Attorney General and has served as Tom Daschles lap dog every since. I hope she gets pounded in November.

I've been waiting for Ann's take on the New Jersey situation and she certainly nailed it. Thanks for the ping.

Apart from treason, this is all the Democratic Party stands for anymore.

This pretty much says it all.

~~~I hope she gets pounded in November. ~~~
You and me both. If Talent beats her, we take back control of the Senate the day after the election as Talent will be seated immediately! Love that Missouri law. And then, for the next 8 weeks......JUDICIAL confirmations full speed ahead! Tax cuts made permanent!
Thanks John.
Ann used some hyperbole and satire to great effect here--and it is almost tragic that she is so correct as to why the Demonrats are hysterical. Abortion.
There was a woman who spoke at our church when I used to live in Moorestown New Jersey. She had had several abortions---and she courageously spoke out about what she went through. It was tragic: nightmares of body parts in her sink, hearing babies crying, and intense rage at seeing other mothers with their children.
She said went through every stage of post-traumatic stress syndrome. I later asked her about why she came forward--and she said that only God can heal certain wounds---and she wanted to let people know that God had mended hers--but to warn others as well. She talked about being active in abortion politics--and later came to regret her association with them. People who she thought would take a bullet for her were now her sworn enemies. She said hate-filled phone calls in the middle of the night were common place.
Coulter nailed it. It is not just "politics" to these wicked people. It is about good vs. evil---and Democrats cannot fathom facing their own gruesome visage in the mirror.
We continue to be amazed, although we should know better by now, by the Rat's brazenness.
My subconscious did a little extrapolating and I was hit last night with these possibilities:
Worst-case scenario: Lautenberg gets elected (God forbid). In a couple of months he realizes (in fact is told to realize) he's too old & tired and resigns. What to do? Dem bosses in NJ scout around (as if this had not been planned from day 1) for a suitable appointee to the Senate seat. Who's got the experience?? Why, Bob Torricelli of course! McGreevey appoints the Torch to the Senate to fill the seat til the '04 general election. If the Dems (God forbid) still are in Senate control he will even be given his seniority positions back. He has some hope of winning in '04 and sticking around. Bingo!
Really worst-case scenario: How long does one have to be a NJ resident to be qualified to be a Senator? Can we rent Bill Clinton a little studio in Jersey City please? When does Lautenberg begin to feel too old & tired (or more appropriate for this scenario, passes away under strange circumstances)? Fill in the blanks.
In some of the less- enlightened states, the public might not recognize the fundamental human right to suck the brains out of little babies.
Apart from treason, this is all the Democratic Party stands for anymore.
Ann has one phenomenal point in every article that seems to stand on its own and outshine the rest. This is that point. She's fabulous.
