What has happened to our image as a beacon of freedom, opportunity and the right way to live?
Much of the world fears or hates us. We have a proclaimed policy of attacking any country whose policies or regimes don't follow our dictates.
Why have we become the biggest bully in the world?
Your pictures prove nothing.
Wrong Ivan, this pic on the University of Berkeley website is not easy to find....
If you follow the pic address (http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2002/08/images/light_children.jpg) it would seem to lead you from the start page at Berkeley to the News where you have a many items to choose from before you find Media Releases to the year 2002 to the month of August where the story containing the pic should be. But wait !!! The story has been pulled and placed in the Archives. So to find the pic at all you have to do a search in the Archives for a coal mining story (http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2002/08/12_coal.html). This pic is hardley easiest to find! And you no doubt, know your way around the Berkeley website very well. And I am also shure that you find the Berkeley website friendlier to your views and opinions than the FR. Yes you have outed yourself in many ways in this thread, this is but one of them.
As you Ruskies would say old man, take that cow leg and stick it in your craw!
I don't deny any poverty in the US... I live in South Carolina, I see it all around me. I come from poverty and I live in a mobile home.
I was just pointing out for everyone what a liberal website you got all of your pics from. Your only conservative resource is the FreeRepublic.
Gosh, I love stuff like this.
An overstatement on my part, as I have said a few times on this thread. We have a newly proclaimed policy of pre-emptive strikes against potential threats. I prefer deterence. You: Then why haven't we wiped out France? Good wine, beautiful women?
I think respect would do.
That's easy. Our morals have been gradually eroded by those who hate truth and seek moral relativism. We no longer have a moral base to extend to other countries. Our opportunities have been driven offshore by lords of greed. We the people have allowed this to happen through apathy.
Collective suicide of all that made the US great is the order of the day. Bread and Circuses, refusal of responsibility, greed and laziness have seduced the masses of useless eaters into complacency. We reap what we sow despite the subtle usurpation that we allow to undermine our base.
A voice of reason.
I think it would have been better if an Ex-President had come out against the criminal attack on Serbia the disgrace of a President Clinton undertook in support of Muslim terrorists to distract from his own problems.
Sorry. I was imprecise. As a descendent of the Conquistadors, I sometimes use the terms "colonization" and "conquest" interchangeably.
As you say, we all have a checkered history. :-)
While doing such a search does turn up your liberal photo website ...NEVER does the story from Berkeley or the pic from Berkeley ever trun up in that search...So try again Ivan... you posted a pic from the most liberal website around, Berkeley from a story that is no longer accessable execpt to search the archives.... You said it was easily attainable to you... yet it did not show up in the search you did for your pics.....You must have had it booked marked for easy access.
I guess it was your talk about inferiors that made me arrive at that conclusion, perhaps I was wrong.
Secondly, I AM imperialistic. We have a right to be. As I've said repeatedly, our system works. Theirs doesn't.
Screw imperialism.
Finally, I'd rather embrace my "holier-than-thou" opinions than stand before this assembly and apologize for the success of our nation. I'd rather be a snob than a coward.
I'm pretty sure you can be a snob and a coward and still have 'holier than thou' opinions, if you choose to do so.
You should stand up when you talk, otherwise your voice is too muffled.
Serbia springs to mind.
Go Huskies!
Though I almost bit my tongue in two during his Presidency,... I know that once our troops are committed, it can only serve to cause GREAT HARM to MORE OF OUR TROOPS if we undermine the role of a Commander in Chief.
EVEN with Clinton as President, there are people who would never obey an unlawful order. The Military has intelligence they gather, and base intervention/action and responses on. I don't doubt Clinton used it to "wag the dog", but it was probably suggested that such action take place WELL BEFORE HE USED IT. Or, he didn't use it the way he was advised to use it. In otherwords, he didn't go far enough. Because he is a coward.
Though we could not stand Clinton, we still stood united in supporting the decision of the "Commander in Chief". We still admired the fact, that despite political differences, the Republicans stood behind him too. Because to do otherwise, endangers our troops. IT doesn't matter if the President is Democrat or Republican. To suggest otherwise would be the epitomy of hypocrisy.
