Help Forrester! Opposition Research on Lautenberg!!
Myself | October 2, 2002 | Miss Marple

Posted on 10/02/2002 3:32:12 PM PDT by Miss Marple

The purpose of this thread is to assemble research on Frank Lautenberg. If you have articles, links, personal testimony, or just some ideas on campaign issues, please post them here.

Remember, we are "citizens, not spectators!" Let's help Doug Forrester and defeat these slimeball Rat crooks!

Strategy ideas for working with the Greens and the Libertarians are also welcome, because they were dumped on, too!

Everyone is welcome! We have excellent researchers here and I know we can help!

By the way, New Jersey residents: Lautenberg's official papers are at Rutgers University! If you have some spare time, checking these out would be a good way to help!

I agree. Drop the case and run. He loses votes if he challenges. It's over on the ballot issue. Somehow Lautenberg looks like a hero in this. This is very bad news. People said the widow Carnahan had no chance either.

The founding fathers vested the impeachment power in the Senate, and not the judiciary, precisely because this body would be accountable to the people

The impeachment power doe not reside in the Senate, but rather the House. The Senate is supposed to try those cases were the House votes for impeachment. Unless the impeachee is Bill Clinton, with the FBI files of all the Senators in his oval office desk. In that case, they just wink, and nod, and don't even bother to look at the evidence.

According to a commentator of FSN, the Supreme Court can't take the case because they are "forbidden" by law to have oversight over STATE elections. And we all know that no court would deliberately overstep Federal or State Law. Would they, howlin? LOL. {:~O)>

LAUTENBERG VOTED AGAINST OPERATION DESERT STORM

Can't the same thing be said for most Democrats who were in Congress at the time?

he thinks that the answer to cutting gun violence is to enforce the laws on the books and to focus on punishing guns used for crimes, not to enact more laws that will not be enforced

Not good enough, although better than L'Berg. It's time to roll back the gun laws now on the books, which don't work anyway in terms of preventing criminal use of guns, to something compatible with the second amendment. Oh, and lets not punish the guns, but rather those who commit assault, murder, rape, etc regardless of the weapon, or lack of weapons, used. That worked fairly well for a good long time.

Kinda like "pinch hitters" in baseball... dems will now field TWO candidates, one for the dirty, slimey attack portion, and a second "cleanly electable"(relatively speaking) good guy... like bad cop, good cop tag teams... pubbies will NOT know what to do to combat it.

by the way... when in God's name did we start allowing pinch senatorial candidates in our nation?

The guy is in the process of stealing first, when he is thrown out, but never mind, his pinch runner in the dugout was clearly NOT tagged out... so it's on to second, third and then the home stretch.

no honor, no sense of fairplay... and the people who are fed up with no justice and fairness, have nowhere to go, but jail for protesting this clear violation of law by the criminal democrats in government, and particulary the governors house and supreme court of the state.

According to a FReeper on another thread who was listening to jay Severin, that's exactly what the plan is: get Lautenberg elected, then he'll resign and McSleazy will appoint the Torch to the seat that voters wanted to throw him out of. Voila, instant banana republic.

QA, I know this is off topic but...what is that construction on Hoes Lane about? Is that for 18? /back to being upset about this crime of the century and ashamed to be from here

The local papers say that they are going to extend route 18 down Metlars to Hoes Lane. The ultimate goal is to link 18 to 287 via that route. The problem is that the state isn't telling Piscataway exactly how they are going to link the two and, until they figure it out, 18 will just sorta dump its traffic right into Piscataway. Given that the Piscataway politicians are part of the Democrat machine, Piscataway residents should take it out on their town council but they are knee-jerk Dems and won't.

Well, I don't think the US Supremes will hear the case at this juncture. But I've got to think that the Supremes would hear the case, when McSleazely re-appoints the Torch to the Senate......

That won't fly in New Jersey, a state that has gun control laws that would make most people in the blue states faint. I'd rather Forrester try to actually win the Senate than to lose supporting harder to explain ideals. That's why, despite being pro-life, I'm going to vote for him. His abortion position isn't good enough for me but my position wouldn't win in this state without some major changes in public opinion and 30 days just isn't enough time for that.

I want to see Forrester rob the Dems of the three issues they've identified as core in Torricelli's speach and in their recent ads -- abortion, environment, and gun control. Then what will the Dems have left to talk about?

Forrester has to look tough now. No more court challenges, no more kid gloves, DEMAND A DEBATE with his 78 year old opponent. TELL the voters that he beat one Democrat for the seat and now he will go the extra mile and beat another in the final round. TELL the people that one man will fight against the Democrat Machine's Tag Team!

I think the best strategy is to focus on the issue that New Jerseyians deserve to have a senator who WANTS to be senator.

Question: Why is it that Lautenberg, a person who never really liked Torricelli (to his credit) didn't oppose him in the primary?

Answer: He didn't want the work and responsibility - he had retired.

Question: So why, now, is he running for senator? (show a clip of his bumbling announcement) Is this man ready for a full-time job. Is this man ready for the work and responsbility of being a United States Senator ... maybe he just want the title for six more years?

Being a United States Senator is a full-time job, and New Jersey deserves a senator who has the drive and desire to actively represent its interest. So when you vote for YOUR United States Senator, vote for the man who really wants the job - Vote for Doug Forrester.

With all due respect to Barnes, this AIN'T about the darn Senate race now. It about the rule of law. It's about whether that phrase still means anything. And it's about whether or not justice is for sale to whichever party that can get its pols into office and stack the courts. The principle matters here. That's why this decision bloody well needs to be appealed.

I've been saying this on several threads. It's the LAW that we're talking about. These judges, by f'ing the law are setting precedents for future screwing this law; or any law if you want to take this concept 10, 20, 30 years down the road. Pretty soon, a law will mean nothing. Sort of like the 20,000 gun control laws on the books which aren't enforced anyway. And Democrat people throw stones at AG John Ashcroft, who is one of the few guys that truely believes in the law. This country is in deep sh!t if this NJersey hocus-pocus BS is allowed to stick.

When I see and hear the crap that the Democrat party has done to this country since I was old enough to vote (34 years), I wish I never had children (25/21); because they're going to have to live with the sh!t that our generation legislated. The USA is going to look like France, for friggin-sake.

(exhale)Now I feel better.

Lautenbergs retirement speech
Plan to resign so the gov can appoint someone else

Correct. I am certain they will. This thread is an effort to help them save time, because until a couple of days ago all their research efforts had gone into Torricelli.

If the information is avaiable and they do nothing with it, they do, indeed, deserve to lose.

I do not think that the case, however.

And Racicot should take over the republican campaign in Montana

I actually agree with this. Mike Taylor has proven completely ineffective, and the GOP has shamefully neither supported nor funded Taylor effectively.
