The founding fathers vested the impeachment power in the Senate, and not the judiciary, precisely because this body would be accountable to the people

The impeachment power doe not reside in the Senate, but rather the House. The Senate is supposed to try those cases were the House votes for impeachment. Unless the impeachee is Bill Clinton, with the FBI files of all the Senators in his oval office desk. In that case, they just wink, and nod, and don't even bother to look at the evidence.

True, he WAS impeached but not asked to quit his job.
