I just hope they don't decide to let the Palestinians flood into the US. They need to go somewhere in their region where they would feel more at home. Then they would be happier, Israel would be happier, and we would be happier. But of course if they are offered to settle into a country such as Jordon, they will be stubborn and insist they must remain in Israel, period.

Agreed. I would think by now that Bush has probably had his fill of Arafat and his ilk. Think someone said they came out of Jordan, let them be reassorbed into Jordan.

Still here, but perhaps not all there. The sound of rain and wind all night really wears on you.
To: Free Trapper
"At least now everybody will have some daylight for the worst part of the storm ". Plus it's weakening at a very rapid pace...
To: Uncle Sham
Perhaps Blam can drive on over from Mobile and cook Mother-In-Law breakfast. Nah, I guess he's a bit too far away and the traffic conditions are probably terrible. I wish he would not have posted his breakfast menu as it has made me hungry and now I want to eat what he is eating but it's a little after 4 in the morning here; I've been up all night on this thread because of my family. Especially my brother in Zachary. And he probably ended up going to bed around 11 after all although earlier he said he would be up all night. Instead I have stayed up all night.

"The sound of rain and wind all night really wears on you." Agreed FRiend. It dang sure ain't a picnic.
To: Uncle Sham
I know! I love it there, and New Iberia is in the heart of Cajun country. My family is from Avoyelles parish originally, where I see nasty weather is expected too! Before my father died he wanted to move back to the small town there where he was born and grew up. Those are the greatest, warmest, and most comical people in the world, at least to me! When I turn into an old lady, I will most likely think about returning there too.

Local radio reports power outages all around the area as well as increasing winds. I just did a another walkabout and am pleased to say that other than a new front door, my expenses, so far at least, will be minimal. :-)
To: Uncle Sham
Look on the bright side.
You got a free trashcan. :)
To: Diddle E. Squat
Eek! It's still not on shore yet but the weather seems to be getting rather bad. It does sound like the eye will pass near New Iberia! I notice they are mentioning the Baton Rouge parishes now. If I'm still up, I think I'll try calling my brother again in a bit.

Looks like the worst bands bordering the eye are over Marsh Island now.
To: Uncle Sham
Did that flying trash can put a dent in your front door? Oh boy. I hope nothing else happens to you. Is Iberia in Iberia parish?

Radio broadcasting a report from Thibodeaux about 50 mph gust but not much rain. They expect it to be over with in about three hours or so.
To: DBtoo
Power blinks here and at the radio station. They mentioned it as it happened here! Big-time dent in front door due to 747-like trash can.
