Iberia Parish has three of these salt domes. Avery Island, Weeks Island, and Jefferson Island.

What are you doing still up at this hour?
To: Uncle Sham
looks like storm is done weakening in fact in the past 45 min to 1 hour it may be trying to get its act together again
..cloud tops are cooling on the south and east side..and the eye doesn't look as pathetic on radar...if it reforms the storm could go up a bit wind wise before landfall.we will see

another blink.
To: Uncle Sham
blinks becoming more ominous.

I want to thank everyone who has provided concern and helpfull info before my power goes.
To: Diddle E. Squat
I could be wrong but I believe I read somewhere that one of the reasons the Tabasco company located on the island was for the salt to be used in their product.
To: Uncle Sham
Yeah, it looks like a small orange area headed your way.
To: Uncle Sham
If Lili picks up all that Tabasco juice from the Tabasco plant and spreads it all over your town in a whirlwind mist, keep your eyes shut really really tight!

It's already here as far as I'm concerned! Heavy duty stuff outside as I type this.

Am fascinated with hurricanes, and getting some work done on the side. I keep flexible hours and do alot of research in the ovenight hours(less interruptions).
Does your computer have a fast enough connection to load the radar images? Looks like you may be in some heavy cells for a bit longer, then perhaps a break based on the rotation pattern. Or a long string of cells training around one after another over you, kinda hard to predict at the moment.

Hi Windsong, how is the weather where you are?

The storm just woke me up. I won't have power for long ... took two tries just to get this far ...
I suspect we won't feel guilty about being at home this morning.

When I was a kid, I'd put it on crackers and eat em for snacks.

Good advice. I wonder if Avery Island sells Tobasco brand pepper spray?
To: Diddle E. Squat
I have an updated model run thru the Spodefly supercomputer ... there may be a bug in the software though because something still doesn't look right.

High-speed thanks to Bellsouth. :-)
To: Uncle Sham
Where did the salt come from that made the salt domes?
To: Askel5
I've been up all night and had power so far all the way through. I've decided to post reports as the storm comes through. You all should be ok in a few hours. It's really gusting here.

Pressure has risen 17 mb in just a couple hours. Just in the nick of time. Your posts have been great last week and this, btw. (Not to mention heartening as I turn everything off and go back to sleep ... =)
