A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 10/1/02

Posted on 10/01/2002 6:20:03 PM PDT by rintense

President Bush met with congressional leaders today to asks that they pass the Terrorism Insurance Agreement by Friday. Bush stressed the need to pass the measure so that 300,000 people could get back to work on $15.5 billion worth of projects that are on hold because of no insurance. The President also made it crystal clear that although an Iraqi inspection agreement is a step in the right direction, the Biden/Lugar resolution is just not strong enough. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura Bush was in Florida today to help promote reading. This evening, she is attending a fund-raiser for her brother-in-law, Jeb. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

It's just a little game we play - who can be the first 10 to get to the thread after it goes up! Just a fun thing! I've only made it once.

Actually, it started as a race to see who could be first - then it was expanded to the first 10 - I see tonight it may have expanded again to the first 25.

Join in if you like.

Elian meant so much to me and Donato's arm up and protecting him at that frightening moment of the actual pic was courageous. I guess I have to say I don't like your picture graphic much-but I understand your attempt at saying President Bush would not be afraid to tackle Osama )except Osama would be armed-not helpless like Elian was.)

Mtngrl....are you going to make a list of all these? I'd like a copy if you do to use in the future. Thx

Yes, I plan to.

If any of you can think of how any of these would apply to the loss of Constitutional rights, that would sure be a help. That seems to be our main point of contention.

Yes they will be celebrating their 25 wedding anniversary on of all days November 5th. Watching election results.

Let's all do everything we can including prayers and donations to give them a Republican House and a 5 seat majority in the Senate for an anniversary gift.

We sure will be praying for your safety down there.

We're in a pretty bad drought situation up here, and are actually hoping for a bit of that soaking rain. Go figure. Stay safe.

Don't forget to pray for the upcoming elections with the same heart we all did during the horrid wait after the presidential elections. President Bush needs us now. And he has asked for our prayers.

And let's prevent the Dems from cheating the people of NJ by yet again snubbing the rule of law by asking our Father to intervene. Absolutely ALL things are possible thru God. Nothing is beyond him. Let him hear from ya....we are going to win this battle between what is right and what is wrong, and we are going to win.

Well, the PC garbage certainly infringes on our freedom of speech .....

And kicking prayer out of schools has led to a ridiculous and scandalous distortion of freedom of religion [note that it is freedom of religion we are guaranteed, not freedom from religion].

And the second amendment is constantly being eroded.

No heavy thought provoking message intended, just visiting the "other side", this one struck me as humorous.

I do not approve of the heavy handed snatch technique, however, as unpopular as it may be to some people (here) I wholeheartedly agree with the decision to unite Elian with his father

In order for me to be united with my son at age four, the judicial branch of government was petitioned... and my son was commanded from his mother as she was hiding him at her illicit partner's home. I raised him from age 4 through age 18 +.

Elian is in good hands, they belong to his father.

Well, they do keep telling me that the ballot I choose is what determines how I'm registered, which I guess is what you've said. So if I just keep choosing a republican ballot, then I guess that's how I'm registered. It does seem to be different for different states, maybe they're telling me the truth, but I just don't trust them (hmmm, wonder why...).

Thanks for the advice!

Two reasons: One, this mess is localized to one state, and under the Constitution, the legislatures of the States have the power to set the rules for picking Senators, and their courts have the power to interpret those rules.

But what about the Constitutional issue of limiting Senators to 6 year terms? If this goes down to the appointment by the governor and canceling the election for a year or two that is in total opposition to the Constitution. And in order for the democrat party to put another name on the ballot this late without Torricelli resigning, the NJ Supremes would have to rewrite NJ law. Then it would be a constitutional issue which the Supreme Court could not ignore, IMHO.

It should be the other way around ..... the way you are registered determines which ballot you get (in the primary only! everyone gets the same ballots in the general election) ..... at least that's the way it is in NC. It sounds to me like you're getting the runaround. I would pursue this ...... check with your local election board, contact your Congresscritter, something .....

Do you recall if you get to vote for Republican candidates in the primaries?

"Health Care - if the government was NOT involved our health care costs would NOT be as HIGH as they are!"

I respectfully disagree. Health Care cost have been driven up by bogus law suits by trail lawyers. The regulations in the health care industry were placed on it because of the need to protect from law suits.

"Social Security"

S.S. was never intended to be a retirement program. It was meant to be a safety net. Over the years the RATS have managed to make people believe it is. The poor and dependent are their base and they use scare tactics and unreasonable assurances that Social Security is all we need. Social Securty has been a tool for the left for many young people to think the Government will provide for our parents and therfore relieving us of our responsibility to take care of our parents when they get old. Breaking down the basic structure of the family unit is how Socialism and Communism is born.

In Short... The RATS are to blame :-)

Sorry for the long rant :-)

I agree with Kayak...plus, isn't the Constitution about maintaining LIBERTY - which excessive taxation (one reason the colonies were started) is addressed,

and with JUDGES making laws and instituting taxes THAT seem to take away from Article I, Section I..."all legislative powers herein shall...be granted to the Congress....

and Section 8..."Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, etc...to pay debts and provide for the COMMON defence and GENERAL Welfare of the UNITED States (not individuals)....

I think we could could go section by section through the Constitution and find many instances....but, it's time to go to bed....hope this helps.

Big mistake this year to pray for rain.

Not if you remember to be specific and limit how much and how you want it.

YOU have a point about the trial lawyers, however, I think they are a part of the attitude that gov't should take care of every single little thing that goes wrong....when individuals should be looking out for themselves. The individual's responsibility has been totally removed from health care.....as far as SS I think we agree - it was NOT set up for retirement.
