Evolution Coverage Missed Real Story

More than 40 years ago, the film "Inherit the Wind" presented the controversy over the teaching of evolution as a battle between stick-figure fundamentalists who defend a literal reading of Genesis and saintly scientists who simply want to teach the facts of biology. Ever since, journalists have tended to depict almost any battle over evolution in the schools as if it were a replay of "Inherit the Wind"--even if it's not.

You have exactly turnd my statement backwards. Did you fail to read what I wrote or did you lie because you are a Creationist or did you lie because are a Christian?

My statement was: The lack of evidence for the Flute Playing Locust (or Dagon or Yog Sothoth for that matter) is not evidence for their existence. Absence of evidence really is evidence of absence. This applies to all hypothesized deities including the Aesir.

If you are having trouble reading posts, I suggest you take a remedial English class. If you are lying intentionally, I suggest you take a remedial ethics class.

Oh yes, I realized that you were arguing against the lack of proof proving anything. So yes, I was agreeing with your statement (mirabile dictu!). However, at the same time I was also pointing out that the same weapon you were using to attack opponents is used by yourself and your friends in excusing evolution. This is quite common in evolutionists, they often speak out of both sides of the mouth depending on circumstances.

I want to know what you think is the difference between a law and a theory.

A law is sorta like the observation that lemmings will splatter when hitting concrete after leaping off of 100 ft cliffs. A theory is the supposition that there is a fundamental force between bodies that underlies that observation. A just so story is the fractured idea that bats will result after a few gazillion years of lemming misfortune.

Splifford the bat says: Always remember:

A mind is a terrible thing to waste; especially on an evolutionist.
Just say no to narcotic drugs, alcohol abuse, and corrupt ideological doctrines.

That (absence of evidence is not evidence of absence) used to be the evolludite slogan and apparently remains so only amongst those who don't keep up. What the punkeekers are now claiming more or less, is that absence of evidence is proof positive for the theory.

Thanks for the correction. You are right, the less evidence the more arrogantly silly the claims of evolutionists become.

One of these years the slumbering public, the portion that doesn't homeschool their kids, is going to wake up and say "The Emperor really IS naked! . . . Evolution really IS an Atheistic Fairy Tale! . . . Why are they spending my tax dollars on this propaganda?!" Well, it's happening. Slowly.

Meantime, those of us who have done our homework can just laugh when the True Believers attempt to ridicule us. (Yes, balrog [balrog?], my sense of humor is intact.) When so-called science has to resort to ridicule and diversion (Creationist bashing) to make its case, you know it's not science.

I seem to have noticed that with Liberals, academics and Evolutionists, cleverness sometimes crosses the line into nastiness. Would you agree with this observation? Nah, I'm imagining things.

So slay me with your wit, Doctor (did some earlier wag actually say "whit"?). My sense of humor is in overdrive. Ask balrog.

I am not defending Darwinism as it is taught in schools. I personally think that the "theory" of evolution as currently taught is no theory at all, and is thus not scientific. But that is not germane to my posts, which were focused on pointing out what falls into science and what is outside of it.

I realize that, however the context of the thread is regarding evolution and ID. One thing I find very wrong with evolution is their methodology. They do not do science the way it is practiced. They will claim that something or other is a new species but will not bother to see if they can mate successfully for example. They will claim that the Galapagos finches cannot mate without looking and finding out that they do. They will call Behe names but their heros Gould and Dawkins don't know beans about biology or any real scientific discipline. ID may not be science, but it sure abides by scientific standards much more than evolution.

I didn't mean "creationist" in a pejorative sense. I also believe God created the world. I've just come across some pretty far out individuals on FR (like the types who try to justify slavery), that I was curious if anyone believe it was exactly seven days, etc. etc.

I think that evolution proves God's existence more than disproves it. Why does everything work so perfectly? Why did humans evolve into humans and not into a race of lizard-men (which I think the Koran makes reference to) or giant sentient insects?

Thanks for the coherent reply.

Seismology---tests...

can prove/disprove the age of mountains and the Earth...

or at least my theory about them!

Below the ground...there is a plate---DETECTABLE

that matches the perimeter of every mountain---range...

proving the mountain/hills(appalachia types/large openings)...

were formed from beneath---via the plate openings...

and resulted in triangular pointing up extruded masses with plate parts/residue on top.

The tops of the mountain/plateaus/buttes would match the original opening/crack in the plates!

The bottoms of the mountain would match where the plates stopped...

probably still touching!

Raised valleys stuck between mountains would have natural filling and resevoirs below them holding/trapping---water/gas/oil...ect.

A valley would be a central plate floor caught/floating/lifted from the mountains rising...

much higher than submerged plates around the mountains perimeter!

and canyons(small openings)...inverted mountains---the same way!

I am not talking about Himalaya/rocky type mountains whose origins are different...

but this whole evolution idea of erosion---sedimentary levels is bogus!

Post cambrian levels can also be explained by volcanic and flood layering that doesn't take billions of years to complete!

There is a plate---

that matches the perimeter

that is detectable that matches the slopes of all these mountain/hills!

There are always exceptions to the overall theory but basically earth topography is pretty much redundant/same!

Valleys plate tops...mountains/hills/canyons plate openings!

Valleys...plate tops---mountains/hills/canyons...plate openings!

This is a major cause of earthquakes...

when mountains/hills stop forming but---

the plates continue to settle-crash!
