John has programmed a great new donation system for us. It can accept credit cards or PayPal donations and will eventually also accept electronic checks. We have installed a new secure server system and have contracted with Authorize.net to do the actual credit card processing, and, of course, PayPal will process the PayPal donations through their system.
I've changed the links on our front page to link to the new program:

If you have bookmarks to the old system, please update to the new. The old system will be discontinued.
Take a test drive through the new system if you haven't already, and notice that it has several new features and reports available, including scoreboard, current stats, our budget and a faq. It's live now, so if you enter a donation it's for real (and thank you very much if you do).
John will continue making enhancements to the new system as we go, but the basic program is ready to go, and is live, and on the air.
We've decided to roll out our 4th quarter fundraiser with the new system on a late Saturday afternoon, as Saturday's are slow days and we might as well be gentle while breaking in the new system.

Note to all: We are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding election cycle. I know that we are not all in full agreement on this, but I sincerely believe that we have an excellent opportunity with this election to set the liberals back many years. And I also believe that winning this election in a big way for the conservatives will be the spark that allows our fight to return the Constitution to its rightful place as the Supreme Law of the Land to really get off the ground. I sincerely believe this is essential in our fight to secure our Liberty!
We hold the White House and the House of Representatives. If we re-take the majority in the Senate, it will be one of the very rare times in our history that the conservatives have held the majority control in all departments.
I see this as a gift from God. A majority means that the conservatives will chair the various committees of Congress and can set the legislative agenda. And, perhaps more importantly, a majority in the Senate will make it much more likely that President Bush's appointments will be confirmed.
This means we will be able to start replacing some of the liberal judicial activists on the bench with conservatives (don't tell Daschle & Co. that) and perhaps we will finally have a real shot at actually overturning some of the liberal bunk that has been foisted on us over the last century or so. How about overturning Roe vs Wade? With the current mood of the populace and with a conservative Senate, I think it can be done!
Remember, the liberals have controlled all or most of our government for at least 80 of the last 100 years. No wonder we are in such a mess today. This is the best opportunity we've ever had to reverse it in a big way. Kick the liberals out! Take control of the Senate and replace the liberal judiciary. This alone will set liberalism back thirty to forty years!
We must not fail to take advantage of this opportunity. Daschle and Company sense their days are numbered and are in a panic. Now is the time to redouble our efforts and throw these bums out!
I expect the volume on Free Republic to pick-up substantially as we head into the final weeks and days of the campaign season. And I expect exciting things will be happening for for all of us!

BADJOE --OK if I cut and paste one of my earlier posts about Credit Card Donations? It was waaaaaay down on the thread and may have been missed, and I'd like to let some of the recent readers in on my experience with donations. OK???

- About monthly Credit Card donations-----When I first found Free Republic and realized what it was all about, I was astounded! What a fantastic place!!!( But, I don't have to tell you guys this.!!!)
As my addiction grew, I also became aware that this 'free' site was costing someone else more than a few $$$$$. When a call went out for a donation, I gladly gave, and made a promise to myself to give often. I did give -- several times, in differing amounts. When I missed a month I would feel guilty - as tho I was letting a friend down, so I would pop a few $$$ in an envelope and feel good for a while, until I realized, once again, how much time had passed since the last donation.
When these Freep-a-Thons started, I was pleased to answer the call. I gave a good donation, but I also thought that I should get serious about this whole financial thing. That's when I went to a monthly Credit Card donation. Aside from giving the powers that be a base to rely on, it also removed that guilt that hung over me.
I can still feel good, when I take part in the fun on this thread, by adding a little to the pot.
The Credit Card donation is a no-brainer. One stop, and then you can forget about it -----no more guilt trips!!! If all you can afford is $5 or $10 a month, five Freepers can make that $20 or $50 a month.
I have to use my fingers to figure this out----$10/month is about 30cents/day and if you spend 3 hours a day on Fr.com, that is 10 cents an hour. (OK you math whizzes, is that about right?)
As BadJoe pointed out, there are many ways that Freepers can give (activism, writing, etc), but if you can afford a few $$$$ - Monthly is the way to go!!! You'll feel good, it's for a cause dear to our heart, it will ease the financial concerns for our own JimRob, and everyone benefits!

I just spent 11 days without Free Republic on a vacation.
Even with Fox News at the condo where we stayed, I felt like I was in an isolation chamber.
Besides the news that often "Breaks First" on Free Republic, there is another factor that I miss when I can't access Free Republic.
That factor is not being able to read and learn from the responses/replies of my fellow Freepers when news or phoney news happens.
The knowledge base and political savy of the Freepers who really care is incredible. Usually, before the first 50 replies to a real news thread or a phoney news are in, someone has posted a fresh breath of reality. That reality is then developed by other Freepers until we are able to see what the real news or phoney news thread was all about.
Then, comes the reality that drives the left wing maggots nuts. That is when the Freepers take to the streets like Ron Dog posing as the Wh$re Davis in the LA Freepathons. The DC Freepers are famous for this street activity. Or our replies become national/regional themes on talk shows.
The other reality that drives the left wing maggots nuts is the local organized activities like at the Klamath Basin Group last summer and AAA Best's Sawgrass Rebellion folks. The left wing maggots are used to sending their STD infested renta mobs to the streets, and they are flumaxed when our Freepers go to the streets and work their wonder.
If everyone who reads and uses Free Republic just gave $5/month to Free Republic, we could hammer Da$$hole and drive the rest of his Islamakazi Senators and those rats in the house out of their offices.
$5/month works out to be 16.43875 cents per day. Cancel your subscription to one Left Wing Fishwrap and send half the monthly savings to Free Republic. That is a double win for conservatives. First you are removing money that they use against us 24/7 and that weakens the fish wrap. Second, when you send that money to Free Republic, Free Republic becomes stronger and will weaken the Rats even more.
I look at my meager monthly contribution to Free Republic as a cheap monthly insurance policy to control the Rats and to leave this country in better condition for my adult sons and my grandchildren.
In our life, God grants us a loan of the 3 T's. Those 3 T's are Time, Talent, and Treasure. It is time donate some of that Treasure as well as our Time and Talent to Free Republic.
If you are strapped for money, put 17 cents each evening into a jar or some container. That will pay for your $5/month pledge to Free Republic. You will never miss it, but the rats will feel the pain each day!
