au revoir mon cher Angelique

au revoir mon cher Angelique

I have the truly sad and unenviable task of reporting the loss of a gentle lamb, and fierce patriot, our own dear girl, Angelique.
Simple words cannot express the profound loss I feel. To say I have lost one of my closest and dearest friends would be to betray my own feelings, I adored this girl. Her warm sweet childlike voice, contrasted with her signature feisty repartee, and unbridled humor made her a one-of-a-kind treasure. Her combative defense of her deeply held convictions, crossed many a sword with the best of her friends including yours truly, and her few if any enemies. She was a model Mother, daughter, sister, friend, patriotic American, Franco-American and staunch defender of the principals of a Free Republic, and above all FreeRepublic itself. Angelique said what she believed, with straight talk, a savvy humor and wit, but at times with a velvet sledgehammer ....tears, that was our darling French pastry.
Pray for our sweet girl, as I will, in hopes that she has found comfort and peace in His waiting arms.
pour toujours,  mon cher Angel,  with love......... Carlo

I heard that! And God was so great at letting us have a little glimpse of it thru His Word. Just picture the city 1,500 miles long, wide, and tall...verse 21:16...WOW!

Rev 21:10 In a vision he took me to a towering mountain peak, and from there I watched that wondrous city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of the skies from God.

Rev 21:11 It was filled with the glory of God and flashed and glowed like a precious gem, crystal clear like jasper.

Rev 21:12 Its walls were broad and high, with twelve gates guarded by twelve angels. And the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates.

Rev 21:13 There were three gates on each side--north, south, east, and west.

Rev 21:14 The walls had twelve foundation stones, and on them were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Rev 21:15 The angel held in his hand a golden measuring stick to measure the city and its gates and walls.

Rev 21:16 When he measured it, he found it was a square as wide as it was long; in fact it was in the form of a cube, for its height was exactly the same as its other dimensions--1,500 miles each way.

Rev 21:17 Then he measured the thickness of the walls and found them to be 216 feet across (the angel called out these measurements to me, using standard units).

Rev 21:18 The city itself was pure, transparent gold like glass! The wall was made of jasper,

Rev 21:19 and was built on twelve layers of foundation stones inlaid with gems: the first layer with jasper; the second with sapphire; the third with chalcedony; the fourth with emerald;

Rev 21:20 the fifth with sardonyx; the sixth layer with sardus; the seventh with chrysolite; the eighth with beryl; the ninth with topaz; the tenth with chrysoprase; the eleventh with jacinth; the twelfth with amethyst.

Rev 21:21 The twelve gates were made of pearls--each gate from a single pearl! And the main street was pure, transparent gold, like glass.

Rev 21:22 No temple could be seen in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are worshiped in it everywhere.

Rev 21:23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to light it, for the glory of God and of the Lamb illuminate it.

Rev 21:24 Its light will light the nations of the earth, and the rulers of the world will come and bring their glory to it.

Rev 21:25 Its gates never close; they stay open all day long--and there is no night!

Rev 21:26 And the glory and honor of all the nations shall be brought into it.

Rev 21:27 Nothing evil will be permitted in it--no one immoral or dishonest--but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

Rev 22:1 And he pointed out to me a river of pure Water of Life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb,

Rev 22:2 coursing down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew Trees of Life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month; the leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.

Rev 22:3 There shall be nothing in the city that is evil; for the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him.

Rev 22:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be written on their foreheads.

Rev 22:5 And there will be no night there--no need for lamps or sun--for the Lord God will be their light; and they shall reign forever and ever.

Rev 22:6 Then the angel said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true: 'I am coming soon!' God, who tells his prophets what the future holds, has sent his angel to tell you this will happen soon.

Rev 22:7 Blessed are those who believe it and all else written in the scroll."

Maybe we'll both have the pleasure to meet Angelique some day. That would be really cool, I think.

She will be there, and you will know which one our Angelique is by the sound of laughter coming from her cloud... However, enter that cloud at our own risk, better tuck in that toga, and slick down that cowlick, ..Oh BTW, mind your manners....  ;o)

Well, sometimes a girl just has to do what a girl's gotta do. You may want to step out of the line of fire!

I think you'll enjoy this simple piece. It is the FReeper spirit!

One

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.

One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.

One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what's true.
One life can make the difference,
You see it's up to YOU!"

I got to know our Angel during the famous cookbook episode.

Angelique love to get the Wasp and I fighting together against a common enemy or with each other.

She will be missed as a lady, a friend, an asset and last and most important, a real Angel!

Watcha Gonna Be Son?

An old man is sitting at a table with his son and his new grandson.

The old man looks at his son and asks... "Son, have you found out what that boy of yers is gonna be yet when he grows up?"

The man curls his eyebrows and asks "huh?" The old man gets up and says "wait right here."

About five minutes pass and the old man comes back with a bottle of beer, some poker playing cards, and a bible.

The old man lines up the three items in front of the infant and looks at the man and says:

" Ok, here's how it works...
If the boy grabs the beer he's gonna be a drunk.
If he grabs the cards he's gonna be a gambler.
If he grabs the bible he's gonna be a preacher."

The baby stares at the items for a moment.
He then reaches out and grabs all three items.

The old man shouts...
"HOT DANG SON - HE'S A DEMOCRAT!"

Thanks, I remember that reply from Angelique. That was her way of joking about my grandchildren.

She was a unique and wonderful lady!

Thanks Carlo for this great memorial using her own words and phrases to those of us that she blessed with her replies.

Thank you all... for the outpouring of love for our Angelique, that has been shone here.

A little over two years ago, in an attempt to settle my frayed nerves over the pending the 2000 presidential election. I had been recovering from a life altering illness and discovered FreeRepublic. I lived only to to click on each morning, and see the next scandalous development. One day, with the approval of Mr. Robinson, I posted a simple thread sharing some of my favorite recipes. The response was, lets say, enthusiastic.  It was then, from an innocent post, that I brushed an Angel.

Over the next two and a half, wacky and wonderful years, I chased moonbeams, ducked salvos, and experienced a roller coaster relationship with an absolutely fascinating, near mystical character, Angelique. Working at times almost around the clock on a shared labor of love, The Clinton Legacy Cookbook, Angelique and I, forged a impenetrable bond. We along with a tiny group of wonderfully dedicated, and thoroughly professional folks. First my little Two Step, and RJayneJ, and then my right arm christie, and lifesaver firebrand, and last, my buddy Howie. We had finally completed our long hard task, when the tragedy struck. A slow, silent and deadly shadow, first covered, then took our Angelique.

Our bond, tested again and again...LOL, a bond like no other I have ever experienced, has now reached an ....intermission.....

Over the past few days I have struggled to mold a solution to the dilemma of how to live without laughter, how to go forward. With the help of her own words, and those of her wonderful friends, you Freeper buddies, I can see a way to go on, until we finally meet. When I will see our Angel, this time without a computer, or a phone, or hundreds of miles apart.. and have her fuss with me about how to fix a soufflé in the.... BIG kitchen. Until then, I'll have my memories, this thread, and some of the thousands that I will gladly share, if someone will give me the time...  and BTW, you'll have to put up with me, and my endless reminders of how it was when I had the pleasure of knowing a real Angel.... thanks everyone, for your help in getting me through this.......
au revoir mon cher Angelique...Adieu
kisses and hugs..  Carlo

PS; If I can get the agreement of her family, I will post Angelique's given name, and this thread on,  Our Wall......

Dammit, Carlo, this is rotten news!! I had no idea Angelique was even sick...I knew I hadn't seen her respond as often to my pings, but when she did it was always worth reading. You say she had no enemies, well, that's probably right, but she could sure get under folks' skin. I'll miss her "velvet sledgehammer," my FRiend. God gained one helluva Patriot today.

She deserves to be on the wall. It is an honor for her and an honor to us all. I commend your efforts to raise her memory for us to contemplate. It is a FReeper thing to do. There are few of us as it is, and when the best of us pass on to a better place we shouid note the event with respect and gratitude that she was able to share a vision with us, her fellow travelers.

I noticed that Angelique lists "nowhere" as her location on her homepage.

In light of her passing, I wonder if she would want this updated.
