As far as Daschle? It's a small world afterall. He is a small man from a small state and elected by a small number of people. He has proved that he is small minded. And he is only in the position he is in because of another small minded man, Jim Jeffords. Who gave the Dems. a small majority. Daschle is small in so many ways. Ask his wife.
And short? Daschle is short. A short man. Short of ideas. Short of honesty. Short of integrity. Short of vision. And short of time.

TRADE DEFICIT: Formally termed a balance of trade deficit, a condition in which a nation's imports are greater than exports. In other words, a country is buying more stuff for foreigners than foreigners are buying from domestic producers. A trade deficit is usually thought to be bad for a country. For this reason, some countries seek to reduce their trade deficit by--
- establishing trade barriers on imports,
- reducing the exchange rate (termed devaluation) such that exports are less expensive and imports more expensive, or
- invading foreign countries with sizable armies.
In the 30 years that have lapsed since the Arab Oil Embargo, BOTH parties have failed miserably in there responsibility do deliver a comprehensive national Energy Policy that would reduce our dependence on foreign oil. This is inexcusable. The technology exists to significantly reduce our oil consumption through the construction of electricly powered mass transportation systems in our nation's most densely populated regions and urban areas. Power for these systems could easily be supplied using nuclear energy, protecting our economic security from the risks of Third World petro-terrorists like Saddam Hussein.
