I pinged some of the freepers fron "THE DOSE" over here because of the person I wish to profile tonight. This will also be my good night post as I still need to get some sleep to get rid of this "bug" that's making me ill.
But I said I'd profile our first lady tonight!
Being a history buff, I have read many biographies and other articles about our nations presidents from George Washington to George Bush (No.43, that is!). I've also read about thier wives and/or first ladies. I have always had a fascination for Dolley Madison, Indeed, when I first thought of registering onto FR I was thinking of using "Dolley Madison" as my screen name. But It was not available.
Then I read about other first ladies like Edith Roosevelt and Barbara Bush and found them amirable as well!
But, when George W. Bush became president, he brought with him a most wonderful woman. Laura Bush!
I find First Lady Laura Bush to be a kind and graceous (Spelling?) person who not only cares for her family but also for her country and fellow countrymen.
Her style of non-panic, yet compassionate concern for the people she has met and dealt with has made her the best first lady we have ever had since Dolley Madison (IMO).
I admire the way she stands by the President, offering him comfort and support. not offering her opinions or unsolicided advice like another who shall remian nameless!
Then there is her concern for the young and innocent of our country. After the attack on 9/11/01, her main concern was to the children who must have been frightened and confused. No longer feeling safe and secure in thier own country. She has ever admonished parents and other older relatives to comfort thier children, letting them know they are safe and loved.
She also encourages the values of a good education and reading fundamentals.
Her faith in God is what also sustains her as she faces what must be the most difficult task of her lifetime, that is being, as some have put it, the Comforter-in-Chief!
May God bless and protect this beautiful person!
Another person of quality, Mrs.Laura Bush!
Now I'll say good evening to everyone and I'll see you all tomorrow, when I profile my gradmother on what would have been her 114th birthday.
God Bless You all!
You're still not feeling very well? I hope you check with your doctor.
Goodnight, sweet Pip. Rest well. See you tomorrow. : )
You get some rest, and we'll see you tomorrow. Hugs to you, sweet FRiend.
