There is a lot of gung ho warriors here who would tone it down some if they ever had to do the fighting themselves. Hard to fight with a load in the drawers. Easier on the internet

The old "if you are not a combat vet you can not speak on the subject" play.

As a Viet Nam Combat vet, I have seen your kind, working against American troops, every since the peace movement of the 1970s. You yourself may not be a communist stooge, but you certainly are using their playbook.

The number "5" is in reference to you and your kind.

During the Viet Nam war, the American people did not fully understand the peace movement, and some fell for their propaganda. Well buddy, this is no longer the 1970s, Lyndon Johnson is not in the White House, and we have all seen what happens when the peace movement gets its way.

Nice post CIB! TJ's line was rehashed propaganda -- a relic of the 60's.

To my everlasting shame, when I was young and naive, I allowed myself to be manipulated by folks like this. Endless hours of debating and questioning the Viet Nam War, hours and hours of griping about how I wasn't listened to, and then....I married a guy in the Air Force, and saw what real service people did.

I saw how the Germans in Berlin were stirred up to hate all Americans, even Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention. I saw how the press mocked President Nixon when he came to tour the troops. I saw how the assassination of Robert Kennedy was used as an excuse to riot and destroy property in Europe. I saw a man in East Germany plowing his field while his wife pulled the plow.

I came home convinced that I had been lied to, and when I went back to college I had no patience with the professors who sounded JUST LIKE ThomasJefferson.

They are indeed, Fifth Colummn, and I am NOT putting up with it. My children and grandchildren will live in safety, no thank to these fools.

The peace movement during the Viet Nam years was just a government orchestrated series of events to drag out the war until they could socialize more on the domestic front while people's attention was diverted. It also gave them time to dumb more kids down in the school system which was being systematically restructured to assure that Americans would be unable to think for themselves by the year 2000.

Lyndon Johnson has been gone from the WH since '68. The peace protests ended in about '71 or '72, when the draft ended, IIRC...
I am also a Vietnam veteran and I have some SERIOUS questions about this whole thing. I would appreciate some serious discussion from the warmongers so that we can come to some reasonable conclusions. I am not dead against taking out Saddam IF there is more than hearsay linking him to 9-11. The fallout from Gulf I is not anywhere near sufficient, as far as I am concerned, because it does not link him to 9-11. If he MUST go for that reason, he can wait. Get the PERPS FIRST. Like the Saudis, perhaps... I know that 15 of 19 of the actuals on the planes were Saudis. Who were the Iraqis that flew the mission? Try discussion and let's see where we end up. Flamebait and this five bs don't count for much except to show off the set-in-stone ignorance of the ones using it.

The old "if you are not a combat vet you can not speak on the subject" play.

I never said anything like that. The poster refered to himself as the "we" part when advocating an attack. I merely point out that it is easier to be rah rah about combat when you aren't going to be involved. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and has a right to state it. Even people who go around saying things like "we are going to kick ass", when they are not part of the "we".

As a Viet Nam Combat vet,

As a combat vet, you should be happy that some guy includes himself with you even though it was your ass getting shot at while he was banging away on the pc? I find that to be a curious opinion.

I have seen your kind, working against American troops, every since the peace movement of the 1970s.

You know nothing whatsoever about me. I have never worked against American troops, in any way shape or form. For you to say that is despicable.

During the Viet Nam war, the American people did not fully understand the peace movement, and some fell for their propaganda. Well buddy, this is no longer the 1970s, Lyndon Johnson is not in the White House, and we have all seen what happens when the peace movement gets its way.

I am not part of any peace movement, now or then. PS, we ain't buddies.
