The D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to come to Washington, D.C. a week from Saturday and celebrate with us as we commemorate our fourth anniversary with a counter-freep of the communists and anarchists who will be ostensibly protesting the World Bank and IMF, but in reality are protesting against America and in favor of communism.
FreeTheHostages explained our reasons for standing against this crowd on this thread:
Hey, I'm with the DC Chapter and I live right near their Ground Zero protests each year. TRUST ME they're only PRETENDING to hate the World Bank. What they actually hate is private property. As per the above news article, they intend to destroy some. They make it clear that they want to harm the entire "system" in downtown DC.
They come, they have banners about the virtues of socialism, etc. Oh, TRUST me, they're socialists. Also there are a lot of Green Party people that come with environmental stuff. (Hey, I even believe there's manmade global warming, but I'd protest their anti-capitalist solutions to it.)
The name of the group is the Anti-Capitalist Convergence. That should give you an idea that globalization is just this banner for their rantings.
Sauropod added: I assure you that no one is more anti-globalization than myself on this forum. Yet I will be out there counter-protesting these eco-fascists. They are not anti-globalization. They are just anti-globalization because they are not the globalists in control.
We will not be demonstrating in favor of the World Bank and IMF. We will be demonstrating in favor of capitalism, private property rights and America.
The D.C. Chapter demonstrated against this same crowd last September 29. That demonstration was peaceful and boisterous. We expect the same atmosphere at this one. Law enforcement officers will be everywhere like last year.
Alas, also like last year, we will have to wait a few more days before we announce our meeting place. The leftists just changed the place of their rally from the Ellipse to the Sylvan Theater at the Washington Monument and have yet to announce a march route.
We will exercise our right to stand on the sidewalk (somewhere) along the parade route and peacefully offer our opinions on their message.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
When: Saturday, September 28. We'll start gathering around 11 a.m.
Where: TBA, in downtown Washington, D.C. along the march route.
Bring: American flags, signs and a sense of humor.
Afterwards: We will have an early dinner to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the D.C. Chapter and plan for our future actions at a restaurant to be determined then.

Please spread the word about this counter-freep to your friends and e-mail lists who live within a few hours drive of D.C.
This crowd goes from city to city terrorizing the local populations, causing businesses to lose lots of money and taxpayers to spend millions of dollars to keep them from wreaking havoc.
The D.C. Chapter drew a line in the sand against them last year, and we'll be at that line again this year.

Thanks for the ping. I'll be with you in spirit, but my body will be in Phoenix for the SAF Gun Rights Policy Conference that weekend. I'll have to wait until CPAC to see you all again.

We'll miss you too! Kristinn said to bring good signs and a good sense of humor: you guys always do both!

Sauropod said it best: the only thing they hate about the World Bank is that they're not in charge of it. They want more $ taken from U.S. taxpayers and given abroad. They want forgiveness of world debt.
I'll bring a sense of humor. It is sort of funny that these green party people totally LITTER my front yard. These self-proclaimed environmentalists little everywhere! I wish they'd litter in their own front yard.
My prediction: the city will not let them troop about as in years past. It costs our city police force *a lot* to protect the citizens every time they invade, and that means I have to pay more taxes. Everyone thinks of DC as a good place to go and protest, but for those of us who live there, and for our police force (both city and federal) already burdened with security precautions after 9/11, it's really inappropriate in a time of war to come to town and add to the chaos.
I'm not sure the city should agree to give them a protest permit except under very restrictive conditions. I think they the city and the feds should do themselves a favor and put them on a much shorter leash and not let them destroy so much. Sure, it's their right to protest. But if people SAY they're coming to down to disrupt things and destroy property, I think the city has a perfect right to curtail their movement. I'd be really surprise if they were permitted to go anywhere/do anything this year. Here's to hoping they won't be permitted to do this.

I am reminded of this post, on another thread about the hate America folks who protested last weekend in San Francisco.
You know, I'm not seeing any of those giant puppet head thingies. I just can't take these freaks seriously until they bust out the puppet heads. Until then, it's all just talk.

I think making some of those would qualify as having a sense of humor...

My prediction: the city will not let them troop about as in years past. I'm not too sure about that, FTH. Apparently today the illustrious Chief Ramsey recommended that folks who drive to work in DC or have to come in for other business should bring something to drink and a bag lunch, and prepare for traffic jams longer than usual. It doesn't seem like Chief Ramsey wants to do much to uphold the rule of law and keep the peace in DC this time.
Note to Gore_ War_ Vet:
That last sentence I wrote probably doesn't apply to you or your Patriots Rally truck. Ramsey will no doubt be ready to throw the book at you and the #@!* truck.

Hmmmm, I'll have to get approval first from
Freeper Jay Wolfe campaign manager Eternal Vigilance. If he can afford me taking a day off to attend this event and I'm caught-up with all 58 precincts and the other four counties in my region by next week, then I'll be there with our Montani Semper Liberi flag flying proud!
