Tri-State NY NJ CT Freeper Holiday Party and Meeting
Saturday December 28th, 2002
1:00 pm
Special guest MadIvan from England
Location Tentative but could be Moran's (downtown) in the WTC area
Moran's
This landmark location, built in 1897, was formally an inn and later became St. George's Chapel during the Depression in 1929. St. George's Chapel catered to the local merchants and residents, which were mostly of Syrian Catholic descent. This area came to be known as "Little Syria." In 1979 the church retired, and the Moran family acquired and converted the site and began operating on December 26, 1986.
It also gives us a place to go to reflect on our Freeper BCM, John Moran who perished on 911 and possibly honor his family.

Please let me know your ideas and suggestions so this can be a wonderful gathering. I will be emailing back and forth with Firebrand planning the party/meeting.
As the date gets closer I promise to ping you all back to this thread.

Thanks for the ping.
There is a hotel occupancy tax of over 15% in NYC, so anybody getting a room should ask for the price after tax.
I'm fine with Moran's, and the nametags. It's just that working in retail, I won't know if that's a day off until the week before. Retail Christmas Chaos rules my life in the month of Dec.

I worked in retail for years ( cards and gifts)...OMG December was a killer. We used to have these huge Thanksgiving dinners and I had to be at work by 6 am that Friday. ARGHH how I hated retail. And that was only the beginning, rest did not come until the first week in January and then we had to prepare for Valentine's Day. I live on Long Island and at that time all my district meetings were in NJ, so even that was a project....: ))).
You do what you can and would love to have you come. I hope to start making the meets in NYC myself in the future.

I don't know if I'll be in NJ for the holidays yet. I won't know until a week or two prior. Please keep me on your reminder list. I have my own nametag, so don't sweat that.

Me too! Me too! Me too!
Freeper name tags? Yes!
I think choosing a place with the name 'Moran' was a wonderful idea. Good thinking.
It will be delightful to meet MadIvan. I always like his posts, and after meeting him I will be able to put an accent on them. Will it be Geordie, Cockney, Jock, Queen's English, North or South??

I hope you can make it but believe me, if anyone understands it is us. We wish we could serve our country in the capacity that you do. Also we hope you keep in touch while in service. GO NAVY!

Some of us I am sure have the worst New York accents...I sound like the Nanny from that TV show. It is worse then the Boston accents. LOL

I'm a PC support guy...except for tax free holidays and December. Then you'll find me, and every other office guy, working the retail floor. Sigh.

Thanks. I am just planning the location stuff....you guys will have to hold the meeting...: )) What meeting!!!????!???....I'm just going to eat drink and be merry. If there's going to be a meeting, I'm doing to have to find my copy of Robert's Rules...which will be interesting since every other page is stuck together.
BTW...just a note to anyone needing to stay overnight. You might want to consider staying over here in Jersey...the rates and sales taxes are lower.
Also, once again...anyone feel like carpooling from Monmouth County or there abouts?
To: Fred Mertz
If you're in the area, you had better come. ;-)
