Tri-State NY NJ CT Freeper Holiday Party and Meeting

Saturday December 28th, 2002

1:00 pm

Special guest MadIvan from England

Location Tentative but could be Moran's (downtown) in the WTC area

Moran's

This landmark location, built in 1897, was formally an inn and later became St. George's Chapel during the Depression in 1929. St. George's Chapel catered to the local merchants and residents, which were mostly of Syrian Catholic descent. This area came to be known as "Little Syria." In 1979 the church retired, and the Moran family acquired and converted the site and began operating on December 26, 1986.

It also gives us a place to go to reflect on our Freeper BCM, John Moran who perished on 911 and possibly honor his family.

Lunch Menu at Moran's

You can find the current ping list on my home page and I will update it with all who show interest.

Please let me know your ideas and suggestions so this can be a wonderful gathering. I will be emailing back and forth with Firebrand planning the party/meeting.

As the date gets closer I promise to ping you all back to this thread.

Thanks. I am just planning the location stuff....you guys will have to hold the meeting...: ))

I ask the same question Focult's Pendulum asked -- What meeting!!!????!???....

Name tags worked well at one of our Chapter Meetings but we used the paper "Hello My Name Is" name tags which were far cheaper. Just some food for thought.

Our company expects to begin working on protecting a skyscraper in NY soon. I'd love to be there but do not yet know when I'll be making the trip. It may be in December.

For those who don't know what I do, check out our website -- SSAF.

I got 6 dozen pins for 10 bucks.

No meeting, that was part of the original thought process back when the ideas were floating around.

That menu sounds wonderful, alisasny! We will definitely be there - my husband "zelig" and myself.

We can bring our own name tags... we have really nice laminated ones that "abner" made for FReepers for the August 2001 White House tour.

Make that 19 with zelig! : ))

Once I get some response to this last post I guess we will figure out what to do. This does sound reasonable to me. If we make it an even 38 then we can also get a nice cake! Someone (me) suggested a sheet cake with a nice message on it.

I still dont know if we need to make a deposit or if we can all pay that day. Will find that out when I book it I guess.

I will be bringing pins to the party. They are shown on the first page of this thread.

Doesn't look good--Wait, the menu looks great--but the weekend is rough for obvious reasons. If anything changes I'll get back. Please keep me pinged, and thanks for your efforts.

I went there in jeans once. If they suddenly have a dress code at Moran's, it's new.

I will make a new post as soon as I get enough responses to book the place. Tentative time is 1 pm on Saturday December 28th. See the original post on this thread for a link to Morans that has location map and all. : )

Looks like a very warm and inviting place.

Vermont's out and I'm in!

I will be attending, probably with my wife and a brother or two or three.

The menu looks great, but I must insist that we select the Shepard's pie. I had it at Moran's and it was excellent. (so was the lobster bisque.)
