Privious FR thread: Company gets approvals for moon mission -- San Diego's TransOrbital Inc
Try not to read this while drinking or eating anything, else you may need to clean your screen and keyboard after laughing hysterically. :)
I'm sure both the officers of TransOrbital and President Bush would be surprised to know that they were such good friends. :)
Of course these brain surgeons would find it embarrassing to note that Steve Jackson, the President of the ISP, Illuminati Online named it tongue-in-cheek after a fictitious secret organization created in one the games that his other company Steve Jackson Games produced nearly 2 decades ago.

And I thought, according to Jesse Hijackson, that Bush's plans to "rule the world" was bad enough, but the moon too! Warn the Martians, the Bushies are coming, the Bushies are coming!

I think this is a right wing site meant to make the Dems look ridiculous, but since the Dems are so ridiculous all by themselves I can't tell if it is a parody site.

no scientist today could predict yet how adding mass to the moon via human infrastructure or removing mass, via mining, will impact the delicate gravitational interplay between Earth and its only satellite. What absolute rubbish! How much mass has been added to and subtracted from the moon over the millions of years via impacts, yet there it still sits?

"The Real Plan behind TransOrbital's Permission to 'Develop' the Moon?"
Soon they will start a campaign to keep the moon in pristine condition!

Why is it that Democrats are SO VERY INTENT that we follow international law to the letter.
But they don't give a fart in a whirlwind whether U.S. laws are observed--c.f. the entire Clinton administration?

The moon belongs to all the people of the Earth
Last time I checked the moon was "flying" an American flag.

The TransOrbital venture could be disastrous for the globe - no scientist today could predict yet how adding mass to the moon via human infrastructure or removing mass, via mining, will impact the delicate gravitational interplay between Earth and its only satellite Aaaah! The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!
ROFLOL.

I knew there was a diabolical plot behind this! Has anybody seen Martin Landau or Barbara Bain recently?

The Real Plan behind TransOrbital's Permission to 'Develop' the Moon? The insidious plot is even worse than the democRATs suspect. First, the corporate domination of space. Next, Chroming the Moon!

Thought you'd get a giggle out of this.

Private enterprise developing space - that's a model to inspire hope of a New America beyond Earth. All praise Poul Anderson, the old master. With any luck TransOrbital will be run by an Anson Guthrie download a will develop a race of leggy libertarians.

I say, let the first company that plants its corporate flag on the moon gets to keep it, and if anyone doesn't like it, they can take down the flag and challenge the CEO to an arm-wrasslin match on the disputed territory!

Whew, for a while there I thot they had figured out cousin George's real plan of sending all lieberals to the moon -sans oxygen.

If there are any illusions remaining that the left cares about human life this should put an end to that. This guy is objecting to sending a landing craft that is simply serving as a platform to leave a bunch of messages to be read in the future someday on the moon. Not so much as a microbe will be hurt by this mission and this moron is ranting about mining and how this "
will impact the delicate gravitational interplay between Earth and its only satellite"
As for the claim that -
"no scientist today could predict yet how adding mass to the moon via human infrastructure or removing mass, via mining..." That is either an outright lie or a colossal confession of ignorance on behalf of the author. Orbital dynamics are well understood, so much so that Voyager 2, after more than a ten year journey to Neptune, was only off the predicted arrival time by seconds.
So if this guy has no facts on his side what else can explain his bizarre motivation to cancel this mission except for a propound self hatred of mankind and a deep seated fear that it might actually lead to something good?
