Tony Blair's promised dossier on Iraq is to reveal that Saddam Hussein trained some of Osama bin Laden's key lieutenants.
The Sunday Telegraph reports that the dossier is also expected to disclose that the Iraqi leader has reconstructed three plants to manufacture biological and chemical weapons.
Mr Blair, facing internal Labour opposition over going to war with Iraq without UN backing, has recalled parliament to discuss the issue later this month.
The newspaper said a draft version of the dossier contains detailed information on how two alleged leading al Qaeda members, Abu Zubair and Rafid Fatah, underwent training in Iraq and are still linked to the Baghdad government.

It said Abu Zubair was an Iraqi intelligence officer trained in using terror against the Kurds in Northern Iraq.
Rafid Fatah also worked with him against the Kurds, the paper added.
They were then said to have joined ranks with Osama bin Laden, accused by Washington of being the mastermind behind last year's September 11 hijack attacks.
The paper also cited "worrying activity" based on American satellite photographs, suggesting Saddam had reconstructed three weapons plants.

The people who were complaining about not being sufficient reason to take out Saddam can go to the back of the room now.

Tiny Tom doesn't play chess very well. Bush so far has anticipated Tiny's moves, and each new revelation seems designed to make Dasshole look like a complete fool. Revenge IS a dish best served COLD. Eat up Tommy Boy.

Thank you for this, Ivan.

Blair is facing a Labour revolt over this.
It is my hope that this triangulation will fail and the Tories+Unionists will sweep the fractured Labour+Liberal Parties coalition.

Blair is facing a Labour revolt over this. Indeed. But he's showing genuine guts in facing them down. Fortunately he got one of the most left wing members of the cabinet, John Prescott, to support him. I think he's going to win this one.
And in the glow of victory, basically the Labour Party will be bent to his will. Which is really rather funny. ;)

Best of luck to PM Blair in his battle w/Labour! Winston Churchill is my idea of a guy overcoming all odds. His father died from syph and his mum was... well... you know.
Sir Winston was known for his quick retorts to Lady Astor.
Lady Astor; Mr. Churchill, if I was your wife, I would poison you.
Winston; If I were your husband, I would drink it!
Lady Astor; Winston... I do believe you're drunk!
Winston; I may be drunk, but I believe it's time for your enema... your eyes are brown.
Can you extrapolate on this?

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing again and again the same way and expect different results. Famous words of Dick Armey. I hope Armey ponders his own words when he considers the Iraq question. Returning to weapons inspectors is like....
Prov.26 [11] As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
Freegards....

I must say, Blair has been superb! This is a master stroke, to release the information in the UK rather than here.
I actually think they have known about the Al Qaeda presence in Iraq since last January, when the President named the Axis of Evil. I will bet there is proof of Al Qaeda in the other two countries as well.
In one of his press briefings a couple of weeks ago, Rumfeld said Al Qaeda was in Iraq, but the Pentagon press people just let that slide by.
Thanks for the article and, as always, for your support.

Lady Astor; Winston... I do believe you're drunk!I believe this exchange went:
Curchill - "Madam your ARE ugly!"
Lady Astor "Winston... I do believe you're drunk!"
Curchill -"I may be drunk but in the morning you'll still be ugly".
To: Semper Paratus
That was actually an exchange with Bessie Braddock, a Labour MP. She found him drunk in the House of Commons and she said: "Winston, you're drunk."
Winston replied, "Yes, I am very very drunk. And you are very very ugly. And in the morning, I shall be sober."

The exchange with Lady Astor to which you refer initially went like this:
Lady Astor: "Winston, if I were your wife, I'd poison your coffee."
Winston: "Madam, if I were your husband, I'd drink it."
To say that he had a "difficult" relationship with Lady Astor would be to understate matters. ;)

Churchill's sallies were reminiscent of Disraeli's. The latter was once told by a member of parliament that he didn't know whether Disraeli would end up dying at the hands of the public hangman or of a loathsome disease. To which he is supposed to have replied, that it would depend on whether he imitated the gentleman's father or mother.
