HOUSTON (Reuters) - An American Airlines jet bound for Dallas returned to Houston Intercontinental Airport shortly after takeoff on Wednesday because of what an airlines spokesman called "a security incident" on board.
An FBI spokesman told a Houston television station there may have been an attempted hijacking on board.
"It appears to be an attempted hijacking, but I do not have that confirmed," FBI agent Robert Doguim told KHOU-TV in Houston.
News reports said passengers reported seeing two men in the cabin with what appeared to be a weapon, possibly a folding knife. The reports said the men were taken into custody.
American spokesman Gus Whitcomb told Reuters that two U.S. air marshals were on the flight, as were four crew members and 50 passengers.

You know it seems to me that the Media does not want to report this kind of stuff today....
Is it just me ?

FOX also reported. Saying that one passenger in custody and that there were at least two air marshalls on the plane.

Hmmm. Thank God for air marshals. I suppose we could have averted it by strip searching some of the geriatric grandmothers, though.

It's not just you. I just hope that they report that it was an Arab hijacker and they had to return to clean his brain bits up off the carpet in the plane because the air marshals wasted the p.o.s.

Yes, I agree . . . As I commented on another thread, they don't seem to want any actual news to interfere with their prescheduled "news" . . .

After a brief session this morning listening to some of the names being read aloud on CSPAN and then a flip thru the channels, haven't turned it on.

I sure hope the passengers got a few licks in before the Marshalls got to him.

There have been air marshalls on other flights with disturbances lately. Looks like somebody is doing a fair job of recruiting air marshalls and getting them onto flights.
